True. But two more scores changes the entire outlook on the game. Field position would be different and the defense might tighten up a bit on one of Brady's drives.
I think Telvin would have helped. The defense they ran that game was to keep everything in front and let them dink and dunk. His speed at that LB spot may have made some plays or stops that otherwise were not.

I don't think so. We had Mike Peterson, Daryl Smith, and Justin Durant at LB. We had depth with Clint Ingram and others. We weren't lacking for speed at LB, and even Telvin is only going to get a pass breakup or interception if the scheme called for him to play closer to the receiver instead of beyond the receiver. He's only going to get a sack if he's sent on the blitz.
add Tony Brackens and Kevin Hardy instead
Garrard had 300 yards and 2 TDs that game, a good wide receiver would of done next to nothing.
Tom Brady, on the other hand, had 2 incomplete balls, wasn't sacked, and had a TD that was a direct result from Mike Peterson wearing a club.
We needed our best pass rusher in franchise history that game. Maybe our top two.
Add Brackens and in prime Mathis and Beasley in 07 and we make the Super bowl.

Add Bortles, and Allen Robinson to the 99 squad, and do we go undefeated? (I mean in a time machine, of course. Take Bortles and AR15 as they are now, put them in the TARDIS and go back to 1999, and we have Bortles with a receiving group that includes Jimmy Smith, Allen Robinson, and Keenan McCardell, and Fred Taylor as our running back.)

I mean this in the best way possible, but I think Bortles might have been the death of Coughlin. I just don't see Coughlin allowing him on the field for his first few years,
especially considering how rigid Coughlin was in those days. I just don't think he'd give Bortles a long enough leash to be effective.

Not just Brackens. They'd need one more pass rusher. Mathis in his prime played that game!

If you have Tony Boselli protecting Blake Bortles, and everyone else that was already on that 1999 squad, they probably still lose one game to the Titans, but probably not that playoff game.
They lost the playoff game due to interceptions by Brunell. Brunell then (1999, not 1996) was not as mobile as Bortles now and probably Bortles scores one more touchdown, and doesn't give up the sack-safety that cost them that game. No safety, no TD return on the ensuing free kick.

I can see removing Bortles here. As great as he is, Garrard was in an absolute zone in 2007 which was easily and by far his best personal season despite missing a few games for health reasons.
Put those guys on the team and we would have had a better record and better seed. So, the entire scenario plays out differently. Not just the final game.
Garrind time has never ended for some, it seems.
Hopefully Bortles start learning how to play winning ball before we use him to replace guys who'very gone 12-4, with playoffs victories to their name.
Garrard excelled that season due to measured, mistake free, smart QB play. Bortles is not close to that yet, in spite of his vast talent.

At that particular point in time, for that particular game I'd take Garrard over Bortles. He played really well. Bortles would have thrown a few picks against that NE defense. And Brady was unnatural, going 26 for 28 with 2 drops. It was crazy. Blake would have been on the bench most likely and Telvin would have been getting raked over the coals by Brady. Allen would have helped maybe although you have to remember that Garrard threw for nearly 300 yards so it wasn't like they were struggling in the air.
