Let's not forget that Gus came in with a similar roster to what Mularkey had, and came away with twice the wins.  I mean yeah we added... Luke Joeckel?  Sure, we had MJD for longer, but MJD was old by then.  And to make up for it Mularkey had the drunk driver for more games than Gus did.  Our receivers when Gus came in were basically Cecil Shorts, Ace Sanders, and Mike Brown.  Two of these are out of the league already.

Mularkey stated when his staff put together the "roster" that Gene gave him, they could only come up with 46 players they could actually place.

Couldn't even "build" a full roster.

I'd say that's clearly worse than what Dave and Gus put together the first year.  He was given a single year to do what Gus and Dave still haven't done in several.

So you think Dave Caldwell should not have fired Mike Mularkey? I thought everybody on the board was happy when that happened.

I'm saying he was far from the biggest problem.

He was placed (and accepted the role to be) in a no win situation.  He was given a single year on a project that spanned multiple years.  You can't judge what he did in a single year on that.

I know he was not the biggest problem. The roster was all Gene Smith's fault. That does not mean Mike Mularkey will prove to me a better coach than he is at Tennessee.
It's too bad they didn't hold Bradley to the Mularky Standard.

No it's not. We got better with Bradley.
