Not sure what I think about this.
On the one hand, when new coaches and GMs first take over a team, they usually want their guy at QB.
However, given the win now mindset the the team seems to be adopting, I cannot see the team investing the 4th overall pick on a QB with one year's starting experience.
I don't want to pick a QB. It just seems like that would mean cutting Bortles, and really, after just one bad year. That's a little too radical/abrupt for me. I think we should build the rest of the team this year and give Blake one more year.

Agreed, though if one or more of the top guys fell to the second round, I'd consider it.
I say this because if the free agents and Marrone have the impact we think, while the Jaguars may not win the Super Bowl in 17, they may not be in position to get one of the top QBs next year, either.
If Bortles flames out this year, it would be nice to have an already developed young QB waiting in the wings. If Bortles develops into more of the QB we hoped when we drafted him, not only would the young passer have given him competition, we improve the backup QB and quite possibly can recoup in trade.
A guy nicknamed Mr. Biscuit will never be a good NFL QB
Quote:Bortles going to be our QB next year so get over it please
That doesn't mean they won't draft his eventual replacement now, Mrs. Bort.

I can see them letting him sit behind Blake for a year. We're not going to be picking high enough to get the QB of our choice next year; even if Bortles is his usual self, this defense is going to win 6-9 games for us I think.
Could be a great opportunity to finally let a guy with potential develop, and who knows, maybe Bort turns it around and we can trade one of them.
I'm all aboard QB at 4 rather than any RB or S. Thomas, Hooker, Lattimore and Howard will make it difficult to do so, but I won't be surprised if they take a QB.
I don't want a QB but if we do I'd prefer him over Watson or Kizer.
All these moves that we're making and all these young talented players we have will be wasted without at least average QB play.
Passing up elite talent for a QB that should probably have a 2nd round grade on him is facepalm worthy.
1. CLE - DE M. Garrett
2. S.F. - QB M. Trubisky
3. CHI - S J. Adams
JAGS if they sign a new starting RB in free agency
1. DL S. Thomas or J. Allen
2. QB P. Mahomes
3. OG/C E. Pocic
JAGS if they don't sign a starting RB in FA
1. DL S. Thomas or J. Allen
2. RB Alvin Kamara
3. QB Davis Webb
(go with the OG's we have)
Mitch would be a project. He has the best mechanics in my opinion in this draft. But he was in shotgun 98 percent of the time during his one season as a starter. He would need to learn NFL under center footwork. But if that is easy to teach, I wouldn't mind the pick. He has the body and arm as well as fluent mechanics.
Quote:There is a 0% chance that the Jags take a QB at 4.
Naahh,, there's always a chance. So, it's not 0%,, Probably around a 1% chance.
If they stay at #4, it'll be defense or a RB. If they trade back, it's possible they get OL.
They'll stay at 4 and go defense,, IMO (although I'd like to see a trade back,, but not expecting it).

I agree with this. I think a QB in the 2nd is a real possibility for us this year.

No. It
HAS to be an O-Lineman.

This is one reason I think if the Saints wanted to deal up to our spot, I'd be open to the 11th, the 42nd and a 3rd round pick.

I'd take Ramczyk at #11, the best OG at #35, the best CB at #42 and I'd probably look at DE's and TE's in the 3rd round.
