Lot's of play action vs the Texans.

One thing we could do is get some early timing routes or stretch plays going. Get those big men up there going sideline to sideline, and try to wear them out. I think we will have a good shot at winning the opener this year though. I see a 9-0 style game, field goal fest.

I understand the idea, but I don't think the Jaguars will do well with that plan. First Fournette does his best work downhill. Second short timing routes is what the Texans will prepare for and they're where Bortles has thrown a lot of pick sixes because the defense is sitting there waiting for it.

I don't think the Jaguars should try to get cute, they should run at Clowney and Merciless, hard, straight at them. When we pass it should primarily be off of play action or bootleg to allow deeper routes to come open, and the team should stick to the game plan no matter what, because I think it's possible for them to win if they do.

It's mostly a morale and confidence issue I believe. And it ultimately boils down to your overall roster make up. When you've got a loaded team of veterans that's been there and done that. It's probably not as concerning.

But, with our recent years of constantly churning in younger talent with a limited amount of veterans it's easy to see where a bunch of young guys would get discouraged and not feel all in all the time.

Last year is a perfect example. Jalen Ramsey at one point was in tears after losing another game. Telvin Smith called a meeting at some point last year just before this time or right around this time saying he was tired of losing.

That kind of consistency of being on the losing side can really drive you mad and into the ground. Sometimes these athletes really DON'T care about the big fat contracts as much as they would like to win some games.
