Quote:if he runs a 4.3-4.4,he goes 2nd or 3rd.Slower than that,5th or so
2nd round? Did you actually watch him play? He could run a 3.9 and he wouldn't go in the second round.

come on now, dude was the best player on an awful offense, had he had a legit QB all year he would have looked better, he is not a punder RB which he had to be for UF this year
Players are drafted because of potential ability, not their name.

He will be drafted in the 6th or 7th round like Storm Johnson. I hope we draft him just for the possibility that he becomes Fred Taylor 2.0, haha. That and we should find Denards replacement, I don't think he'll be with us after the 2016 season.

Now apart from the name he is actually very explosive once he finds a hole, and can take it to the house no matter the distance. That's one thing he has over TJ Yeldon.

Quote:I'm a Florida fan, and I don't think he's that great.

5-7th round if drafted.
I'm a Florida fan and I agree. He not very fast and he tends to get tackled on 1st contact to often. I honestly don't think Florida will miss him or Drob.
Here's the cutup from CBS Sports

<b>STRENGTHS:</b> Compact build with good bulk for his body type. Runs small between the tackles with forward lean to always finish forward. Physical, churning his legs through contact.

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Quick decisions as soon as he sees a sliver of daylight, finding the cutback lane. Sharp lateral cuts at the line of scrimmage with a quick accelerator to burst outside. Enough speed to get to the edge. Effort isn't a question, running with energy and toughness.

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Nice job in the screen game to quickly read in the open field, making defenders miss with patience and cutting ability. Reliable ball security - zero fumbles in his career (510 touches). Pushes himself and considered a hard worker by the Florida coaches ("He's what you want in a player" Gators coach Jim McElwain said). Productive 2015 season as the 11th player in school history to go over 1,000-yards rushing in a season.

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">His father (Fred Taylor) was a former first round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars and played 13 seasons in the NFL (11,695 career rushing yards).

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>WEAKNESSES:</b> Lacks an ideal frame for the position and looks near maxed out physically. Runs hard, but has average functional power, not doing much after initial contact or breaking enough tackles.

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Vision runs hot/cold and can be indecisive at times when the hole isn't there, incorrectly anticipating or reading his blocks. Tad hesitant at the second level and wasn't a game-breaker on film. Small catch radius and needs to be more focused as a pass-catcher.

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Has been banged up over his college career, including ankle and hamstring issues. Slow start at Florida, struggling with inconsistency his first two seasons - wasn't the full-time starter until his junior season in 2015.

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">IN OUR VIEW: He lacks ideal size and power for the NFL, but Taylor is quick to clear holes and offers a talented mix of body control and physicality as a ballcarrier, running with toughness and finishing traits. He's not as talented as a ballcarrier as his father, former Gator and Jaguars standout Fred Taylor, and lacks big-play potential, averaging only 4.0 yards per carry in 2015 (3.6 vs. SEC competition). Although there isn't much that separates him as a runner, Kelvin Taylor is quick, reliable and tough, projecting as a No. 2 runner in a NFL backfield.

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">--Dane Brugler (1/7/16)

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I think he is worth a late round pick. Kid hit 1k yards behind a pretty awful Oline with an OK QB half the season and a dreadful one the other half.

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">You never know when you hit a gem in the 5th, like Freeman with the Falcons.

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">That being said... Jags won't be drafting a RB in any round I don't think.

He seems like a 7th round flyer because of his pedigree.  He may prefer to go UDFA and develop on the bench for a championship contender.  I think he has potential working behind a great back.

I can almost guarantee you he'd jump at the chance to play for the Jaguars.

Like I said if there's absolutely no one else on the board I'm interested in, I'd throw Fred's kid a bone and see if he's a better pro than he is collegiate athlete.

He's a 6th-PFA in my opinion on most NFL GM boards.

I agree that he's worth a late-round pick, and given the failure of Gerhart, the struggles of D-Rob, the uncertainty that comes with Gray and Grant's status as an ok special teamer but not an option in the backfield, I could absolutely see the Jags spending a 5th-7th round pick on a running back.

Come on, he's a Taylor. If you gave him the choice between being drafted and being undrafted, I promise you he'd take Mr. Irrelevant over spending early May in post-draft tryouts.

I'd agree with that assessment. Nothing overly special about him beyond his name, but decent enough that he'll get a look. It's worth noting that Jarrett Payton, Walter's son, went undrafted, so being Freddy T's kid isn't going to guarantee him anything beyond a spot in someone's post-draft workouts.
