Pretty much, game is meh, would love for there to be some competition, I haven't bought Madden in like 4 years.

There isn't any other NFL game to buy and I need my fix.

...of course, there's this renegade band of modders over at www.footballidiot.com who've been keeping Madden 08 PC updated with new uniforms, stadiums, rosters and more since 2009...and doing a fine job of it.

Unless he's at least a 104 I'm not buying another Madden game!

what's wrong with Madden?

It's a poorly designed game? It's basically the same thing every year anymore with an updated roster.

You can pretty much apply this to just about every "sequel" game out there. The gaming industry is a bunch of recycled content with added "features" and improved graphics.
EA gets the hate for Madden, but the 2k sports series for the NBA hasn't evolved.
Even non-sports titles like RPGs and FPS games are basically the same games with improved graphics and pretty much the same gameplay.

I haven't played any of them for a few years, most of them a lot more than that, I probably really shouldn't speak on the them.
I did enjoy the NCAA games until they stopped making them.

In general, I try to "skip" seasons. If I get Madden this year, I pick up 2k next year. So on and so forth, unless the added "features" just don't appeal to me (I skipped 2k this season because I didn't like how they changed the My Player content)

The gaming industry is a bunch of recycled content with added "features" and improved graphics. There's a difference of quality in those two series. 2k tries their best to make it realistic as possible and has a very nice core foundation with their engine. They don't need to change anything because it's almost flawless in terms of visual realism. Every player looks just like they do in real life, and they're able to get their tattoos down to perfection. Madden is built on a wonky engine, physics are weird, players don't look like they do in real life, the stadium/crowd is lackluster, and not to mention the unstoppable cheese plays. One is meant for just having fun (which Madden is, it's a fun game) and the other is for people that like simulation.

I used to really enjoy NFL Head Coach '09 where you call plays as the coach and run the front office and the draft. You also hired/fired coordinators and position coaches at season's end and went through the scouting combine and pro days to help get your board set for the draft. I haven't played Madden since the 90's as sports games aren't generally my thing. I know Madden has incorporated some of what used to be in Head Coach '09, but I don't think it's as in depth, though someone correct me if I'm wrong. I really wish they'd make a sequel to Head Coach '09. I really loved the front office aspect of that game.
