Yes.. very
Quote:I think Telvin is a solid starter, and House is decent, other than that, yeah the whole thing could be replaced.
Colvin should only be played as a nickel, so add another CB to the list of needs on defense.
I'm confident that at the very least competition will be brought in for him and the other safety position.

Well, Sergio Brown and Josh Evans need to be handed walking papers, Cyprien will be here, but the entire secondary needs to be addressed. Whoever is the DC next year needs to seriously sit down and take a look at what they will do with that secondary, that is not NFL material, and Gus and the staff have not done their jobs this season as far as making adjustments to the defense and the scheme.

Cyprien can't be brought back. He;s one of the biggest liabilities on defense. While the coaching staff does him no favors asking him to sit in single high as much as they do, he's not cerebral enough to be a run-stuffing in-the-box safety that he needs to be.
He is overrated to the people who thought he was just bad.  But he is worse than that, he is horrible.

You have to be good at some point to be in consideration to be called 'overrated'. Sliprien is just hot garbage.
"Overrated"?

Do people even "rate" him anymore?
Dude got mauled when he tried to tackle the rb(blue I believe?)

haha that was hilarious
He had another bad game.  Needs to step it up next year assuming he doesn't find himself on the bench next year due to free agent or rookie acquisitions.  Caldwell can't afford to miss on second round picks.  Especially high second rounders.

Does anybody actually rate him highly anymore?

Technically to be overrated somebody needs to be high on you.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, he really hasn't had a lot of supporters lately. I like him and think he's a hard worker but it's just not translating to the field. I hope he has 1 more year to prove himself. What if we get rid of him and he becomes what Reggie Nelson is now.

Yes and No.

Yes within the Jags organization and the PR that include captain sunshine & lags.

No rest of the NFL.

That is basically what I was thinking.
I don't know his rating, but some folks are being too over reactive to a sad season..Our line sucks. It makes big holes. Telvin, Poz, Cyp have to fill those and cover as well. They are not surrounded by greatness. He is a decent safety, though he needs some help from the line, from Branch who disappears at times from the lightest of blocks, from the secondary who needs to get better as well and of course better coaching. He would start on a lot of teams, so I think he is the least of our issues on defense. Careful who you want to cast off in the hate fest going on now, though it's understandable. Everyone but a couple of defensive players underachieved this year. I wonder how this squad would have done with different coaching. Couldn't get no worse that's for sure.

Yes. His tackling is terrible. Coverage is terrible. What are we missing?

maybe overlooking he is the #3 tackler on the team with 108, right behind Poz and Smith. Not shabby for a guy whose tackling is "terrible". You just see him a lot cleaning up plays so if he is making ten tackles because guys on the line can't shed their blocks, and he misses one of those ten it looks glaring to the average viewer. Not taking into account he really shouldn't have been in that much action to begin with. Miller, Alualu, Clemmons, Odrick, are not getting the job done up front. It all starts with the line on both sides of the ball, and Cyprien is pulling double duty filling these gaps and helping  the Sergios and Davons not get beat.
CB House is the best DB on the Jaguars, its not a question simply a statement of fact.

He is tied at 13 with interceptions in the NFL and leads the team with 4 this season, and is 3rd in the NFL in PDef with 27.  He was asked to cover a lot of great receivers and TEs this season.  He was a backup in GreenBay but the best starter on the Jaguars immediately and they paid him well to come here.  The Jaguars have to draft a Florida Cornerback in this draft if you know what I mean.

The DBs are so weak its part of why this team is 2nd in points scored against with the most in the NFL sure the pass defense might only be ranked 29th but it really should be worse if it wasn't for the LB coverage and gameplay being good from Poz (3ints) and Telvin Smith (1int).

With all due respect, you're wrong.  Odrick and Miller have played well against the run, that's why we have been one of the top teams in run average allowed.

Cyprien is a box safety, the question on the table is if he was worth the 33rd pick in the draft.  When you get picked at that spot you have to be more than just an extra line backer.  Cyp is a liability in coverage plain and simple.  He gets beat routinely by RB's and LB's in space.  That's not supposed to happen with a kid taken with essentially a first round pick.  That's not on the line, that doesn't have anything to do with FS that's all about his lack of awareness and agility in space.

Also, if you think Davon House should be mentioned in the same sentence with Sergio Brown or imply that Cyp HAS to help him then you better get some new glasses.
