Penn State QB Christian Hackenburg has declared for the draft. Hopefully he does well in the pre draft process and ends up in the top 5, pushing a top player down to the Jaguars.

I don't know much about him.  What are his strengths?  Can he be top 5 or will it be a stretch for him to get there?

top 5?  I would be shocked if he goes in the 1st couple rounds
It's not usually a good sign when a players best year was his freshman year.  I could see a team drafting him in the first round based on his prototype size and skillset.

I think he's likely a day two pick, but:

<p class="" style="font-size:26px;color:rgb(41,47,51);font-family:'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">Multiple NFL evaluators have said to include Hackenberg in any first round mock drafts I do. One: "Can't hold James Franklin against him."

Likely landing spot is Houston and O'Brien. Not sure if they'll take him in round 1 or hope he lasts til the 2nd.

It could be a stretch, it depends on what his strengths turn out to be. He has good size, good accuracy, arm strength. Can he hit all the throws? I don't know. He is a good leader.

His biggest downside is pocket awareness, although the O-Line was horrendous so that may be situational more than player.
He has the arm to make all the throws but his accuracy is questionable. Too many picks. I think he will be a top 5 qb his because of the weak QB class this year. Was seen arguing with coaches in the past. He thanked everyone at Penn State except Franklin. Maybe Franklin was not a good fit for PSU but he made Vandy pretty good in the SEC..which says something. The fact that Bill Obrien made hom good and then he flamed out with Franklin makes me think system QB. Hopefully Texas reaches for him. If we were in need of a QB and we had the same record we do now I wouldn't want him.
He will probably be in this division next year.

Penn State played better with the backup in today. Whatever team takes him will be wasting a pick.
Top 5? No.

Top 5 rounds? Yeah, probably.
Diva QB,just wanted to be PSU's savior. Franklins a good coach
lol top 5

Top 5 no way. Round 1 possibly. I wouldn't draft him in the first 3 rounds though.
Hackenburg has no pocket presence.

I went up to Pittsburgh over Thanksgiving and hung out with a lot of PSU alums (playing beer pong) and they cited his lack of pocket presence and can't wait until he leaves PSU.

Well if they said it over a game of beer pong...

HA -- only the truth comes out during beer pong matchups !! :woot:     Actually it was a few former PSU wrestlers & baseball players so they're pretty in tune with the lack of progression with Hackenburg.
I'm totally on board with you (Hurricane) on his lack of progression. He really seemed to be the realest of the dealest his Freshman year, but it seems as if he's done nothing but decline since then.

I have friends at PSU who say he's a jerk also and just not friendly at all. Watch the Browns draft him.
