He gets to many interceptions for us.

I love the way he gets interceptions and runs them back. We need a free safety who can do that more than five times, not just a cover guy. Is anyone else out there who can do has Reggie Nelson's ball skills and the shutdown ability safeties should have? I am not sure if Weddle is a good fit for our defense, but would not rule him out.

Why wouldn't Weddle be a good fit?

Well said!
Oh hell no...

He's in a place where all he does is hunt the ball and his mistakes can be compensated by the 10 very talented people around him.

Quote:I also thought he was a late bloomer. A lot of players are like that.

No, he's just in a place where he isn't bound by complex demands from his scheme.  By "complex," meaning any assignment other than chase the football.

Weddle striked me as being too old and injury prone. I've also heard him mentioned as being a liability in coverage and really only good for run support.

When Nelson was here he was a disaster. He's clearly learned the game since. I'd be ok with him returning.

He is still a safety, right? Not a hybrid defensive back?

And what do you mean "other to chase the football" for a man who leads the NFL with 8 interceptions?

I don't know if he would be a good fit or not.
