They also added Ealy and Gilmore on D
Gotta take advantage of Brady's prime years coming to an end.

I guess the rest of the NFL agrees with that

Yet they will be sub-.500 once again next year while the Patriots will probably be back in the Super Bowl.
Cooks is easily worth better than the 32nd pick in this draft, but if you want to consider that he is also about to have to get a big payday then it's reasonable to say the Saints came out ahead.

They traded their 3rd best receiver, who they won't be paying next year , for a first round pick. Not bad.

The patriots succeeding in spite of a trade doesnt actually mean they won a trade.
Cooks is really good.
Cooks with Brady is stupid-good.
Not trying to judge the trade winner/loser but if Cooks and Brady are healthy all year - Cooks will put up 1200 yards by week 14.

Except Cooks is better than Willie Snead, and I wouldn't be surprised if he puts up 1300 yards next season, and is still only 23. A guaranteed top 5 24 year old wide receiver next year is very much worth the last pick in the first round.

In spite? They haven't had a receiver as athletic and dangerous as Cooks since Randy Moss. He will definitely be on my fantasy team.
I wonder a bit about how Cooks will fit in there. He was complaining about not getting enough touches last year. The Patriot way does not jive with that mindset, you go there and focus on the team, not yourself, just do your job.
If they didn't think he would jive with the mindset they wouldn't have traded for him.

His problem was how he was being used, not his lack of touches. Its still kind of the same problem, but less selfish.

Fair enough he's their #2. But we all know that the Saints system creates WRs every year so really they ain't missing much, especially with Thomas and Snead.
Its a 1st and 3rd for a year rental of Cooks. No way Bill pays him #1 money.

Players tend to not complain as much when they're winning and playing for the Pats.

Yup.
Pats always seems to have a bounty of picks in the draft. That's what they value.
This leads me to believe they are going all in on another Super Bowl before Brady hits the wall, or they're going to recover picks from a Jimmy G. trade.

I'll have whatever he's having, bartender
It was a win-win for both. Saints need picks to help with their putrid defense and NE got themselves another weapon for Brady as they make another run at a SB.
Didn't sound like Cooks would resign with NO so good for them for getting value.
