Quote:It's pretty commonly known around here that the Jags made a strong pitch to McCourty and he really contemplated it before going back to the Pats.
Do you not remember that 3 day grace period before FA started last year?
Not really. I was in a strange place last year about that time. I concede that you are correct now that I've looked it up.
Quote:Considering it is flsportsgod he more than likely just made up some [BAD WORD REMOVED] and posted it with nothing to back it up. Typical.
Quiet you, the adults are talking.
Quote:We are the vacation capital of the world with nothing to do?
Jacksonville's marketing guy must be a genius.
Aaron Ross made some disparaging comments about Jacksonville after he left.

Lol you had to edit that?
Quote:Lol you had to edit that?
I guess you never use a phone to post. Good for you.

I was more offended by the way he played on the field.
Quote:Well, not me, but specifically are the Jaguars attractive enough to bring in some good FA talent next year? I think we missed last year, and years prior in attracting some good talent, because the FA's did not want to end their career by signing up with a dying team. I think a goal for this year should have been to give the NFL community some sign of life in this team, and make potential FA's believe in this team, and want to come to Jacksonville. God Bless Julius for coming when he did.
But we have shown something on the offensive side of the ball. I would no longer call this team "completely" inept. Hoping that FA's will now see this team as a team on the rise, and attractive enough to get on board. Thoughts?
Regarding the part in bold... -
NOPE!
I seem to recall several players saying good things about the team prior to this season. After this season I would guess that potential free agents would be positive regarding joining the team. It's all about the $$$$ and the team in question.
Quote:"Vacation capital of the world!" - Aaron Ross
"A retiree's best friend!" - Hugh Douglas
"A place for nobodys to do nothing." - Jerry Porter and Drayton Florence
What do you think Sloby's parting quote will be?
Quote:You're extremely handsome and yes I think the team is an attractive place to come play. We're on the upswing!
Let's be honest here. "Handsome" is not in your wheelhouse.

There was nothing in bold font.
Merry Christmas!

There was in the quote and my reply to Flagler Jagsfan.
Merry Christmas to you as well!

Shhh I was being kind. It is a [BLEEP] eyed pic of Olsen after all.
Quote:McCourty was reportedly really close to signing with us last year.
Wouldn't be surprised if McCourty was doing the same thing Emmanuel Sanders and Darren Sharper were doing to us, and that was using us and our massive cap room as leverage to get their current teams to resign them.
I hate that this is actually a thing, but it is.
Quote:Not the way I heard it.
Just to add to this post since it mentions several teams, not just us, that were in the bidding for his services. McCourty was on some national radio show right after he signed his deal and he brought up how well the pitch was from Jacksonville without being asked about it by the hosts. I always took that to mean we were the team that came close to stealing him away from New England.
Quote:What do you think Sloby's parting quote will be?
"Their bench was much softer than the one in Minnesota."
Lol at the comments about me not being handsome. You guys do know that that my current pic is a Photoshopped pic of Greg Olson that was meant to make him look like Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds?
I really believe that we had the money to blow this past free agency, but several key free agents wouldn't even think about coming here. This is the place where people come to burry their career. So we signed a bunch of 2nd stringers that teams could afford to lose. And we got...2nd stringers as our starters.
But I do think that our offense has kept this team from being a complete disgrace. I gotta believe that the attitude towards this team is a little different. Maybe some defensive studs that think they can be a part of the missing pieces will sign? Anyways, that is my hope.
