One more issue to look at: Is the Carson or Inglewood plan more viable for a football team? Obviously that will be a big part of the pre-vote discussion.

I don't think there's enough of a difference between the plans from a football standpoint.   Both plans would provide first class facilties.

First class stands half empty with third rate fans.

They do not present the same facilities for fans around the stadium to use before and after games. That could make an impact on fan attendance, depending on what else they use the land for.
Long as the Jags ain't moving, it don't matter to me.
I read somewhere that one of these teams may be playing in LA in 2016.  But where would they play next year?  It's not like they could throw up one of these stadiums in 8 months.  So would they just play at the Colisseum for a couple years?

The NFL will vote on it in 2016, so I doubt they mean next season. But if that were to happen, they have several colleges to choose from and the Rose Bowl.
If it is looking less like the Rams will move, their fans have not heard that.

Quote:"Keep the Rams. Keep the Rams!"

The "Keep the Rams!" chant occurred at various points throughout the game. It was sometimes followed by a chant disparaging Rams owner Stan Kroenke, who has been attempting to move the team to Los Angeles.

Jeff Fisher and Case Keenum on their support of the team:

Quote:<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(34,34,33);">"There's no telling what will happen, but the fans today were incredible," Rams quarterback Case Keenum said. "To show like they did ... it was a great atmosphere tonight."

<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(34,34,33);">Fisher also spoke highly of the game atmosphere after initially wondering if fans would show up for the game.

<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(34,34,33);">"We appreciate our fans," Fisher said. "I was a little concerned, you know, came out for warmups and thought most people were going to stay home and watch it. But, I mean, they came in. They must've been outside having a good time because they came in and it was great to see them. They saw a good ballgame."

Signs around the stadium included:

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS THE RAMS TO STAY IN STL

ST. LOUIS IS OUR HOME

KEEP THE RAMS

Did you think those fans were really supporting the team or just sending a message to Stan Kroenke? I wonder if they will still like the Rams next year.

Ugh I'll take the London games.  This circus is awful.  Thanks for the link Bullseye.  Makes me doubly happy to not be in St Louis anymore.

"Raiders only in Carson: Still not happening." Why not? When was this idea ruled out as an option?

They also should cut out the part about Levi's Stadium. The Raiders have previously stated they do not want to play in Santa Clara. The whole story is about Los Angeles, not making the Raiders share a stadium.

One of the interesting points in Mike Florio's article is the Chargers could move first and play in Carson several years before the Raiders or Rams get there.

Some poor souls in St. Louis still think Shad is going to St. Louis if Rams leave. They insist that Jax isn't an NFL city. Didn't have the heart to tell them that Jax has outdrawn St Louis almost every year since 1995.

They are having nightmares. There is no reason for anyone to believe Shad Khan would even think about doing it.

No this is/was the prevailing delusional thought process of the pompous NFL fans in the town.  In the elites mind, the Jaguars was and always should have been their team.  They believe the Rams relocation was the booby prize for not getting their rightful expansion team.  Darn callers into talk radio would always bring this up over and over again.  When Stan leveraged out Shad, they started the drum beat of not for long and the Jaguars will be in St Louis.  Shad is a very supportive alumni member and ipso facto that means the Jaguars are inevitably in STL.

Hey with the mental screw job Stan has thrown at them, you got have something to hold on to for your fandom sake.
How long would it take the Rams to recapture the St Louis market. If the Jags tried to do what the Rams have done this year they would lose my support forever. If the Rams don't move are they even a viable team in STL?

I never read anything about how a move to Los Angeles would affect the St. Louis market. If they have to stay in St. Louis, a new stadium will be built there, which surely would improve the market. I am glad you brought up the viability issue.

During the expansion race in 1993, the NFL actually delayed awarding the second team, so that St. Louis could get its act together. It was tremendously unfair to the other cities, who unlike St Louis, had their ducks in a row. Even with an extra month, St. Louis failed. My understanding is that the NFL asked Wayne Weaver if he'd like to drop the Jacksonville bid and own the St Louis team. Weaver said no. Ironically, Weaver had closer ties to St. Louis than Kahn does. Weaver lived in St Louis for years and made his fortune there with Brown Shoe Company.

Wayne Weaver turned down St Louis and Shad will too.
By the way, the Houston Texans were born in a similar manner. The NFL, if you'll remember, actually awarded a franchise to LA on the condition that they build a new stadium. That didn't happen, and Houston got the team.

What happened was nobody trying to start up a team in Los Angeles wanted to seek public funds (aka taxes) to build the new stadium. The NFL interpreted that as lacking support and commitment to a team in LA.
