Houston Texas: The Texans held the first pick in the draft and there’s was much intrigue right up until the final minutes. Houston seriously considered Blake Bortles with the initial selection and I’m told they had two cards filled out at their table. One had Bortles name on it while the other listed the team’s eventual selection, Jadeveon Clowney.
Hey what do you know, Rocdee wrong again!
The delusion of Jags fans is crazy. Bortles has looked Average at best most the season. As a Texans fan.....i never wanted Bortles....and still dont. You guys think you are going to win the Divison....LOL. You will either lose to ATL or New Orleans. Your Defense is HORRID.
So you would prefer Hoyer to Bortles....OK...
Cleveland said they wouldn't have taken Bortles. Ultimate endorsement
Quote:We probably have two or three more wins because Carr protects the ball better and Mack provides the elite pass rusher we don't have on defense.
I'm just glad the Texans didn't end up with Mack/Carr also.
Mack/Watt on defense
Carr/Hopkins on offense
That would be really solid.
Too bad, lol!
Bortles has looked average? He's got 30 TDs and is on track for 4,000 yards. He's 23 years old.
If Texans picked Bortles, then we "could of" had Teddy...

It looks like they preferred Ryan Mallet over Bortles.
I wonder how that will work out for them?

If Bortles is "average at best," then what in the world would you classify Brian Hoyer, TJ Yates, and Ryan Mallett as? Yikes.
Frightening time to be a Texans fan. Going to finish 7-9 and have no real shot at a QB....AGAIN... Meanwhile, Jacksonville will load up on defense in the offseason and battle with the Colts next season for the AFC South. The Texans will go 6-10 or 7-9 AGAIN and miss on their QB AGAIN.
Blake Bortles > Entire Texans roster

It's all good. This division is going to be real fun to watch soon. We got teams loading up with young, explosive offenses which is going to form fun rivalries for the next few years... oh, and the Texans.
I prefer good QBs......Texans don't have a good QB on the roster. I dont want an Average QB.....which Bortles is. I would rather not have a QB so the Texans address the position in the PROPER way. They will draft a QB in the next draft. I would have preferred the Clowney-Carr Combo they could have had. The Carr name baggage was over thought and I bet they regret no pulling the trigger on him.

Oh by the way......if you can stop anyone......you are not going to do ANYTHING in the NFL. Jags defense is HORRID. BTW...its not like that offensive line is great either. Having a QB, RB, and WRs is not worth a damn if u can't block.
Texans draft a QB and RB (to replace Foster if he can't comeback).......
Texans are already a better team than the Jags.............without a QB.

Yeah because Bortles isn't improving at all....
Oh and already has 1 more TD than the Texans TD record with 3 games left...
Oh dear.
So gunning for 35+ TDS and 4000 yards is AVERAGE? Fascinating.
Got some pretty jealous divisional fans it seems. This is in his 2nd year on his 2nd OC too and still better than HOF Luck
That Texans fan is whistling past the graveyard.
Consider he's putting up these numbers with a defense the Texans fan accurately describes as "horrid."
That means as a general rule, they aren't getting teams off the field. They aren't turning the ball over to the offense in good field position.
Once they build the defense to that point, Bortles' numbers should go up.
That Texans fan is scared.

There's also a video on this site that shows Houston with two cards filled out. However, it doesn't mention the name on the other card.
Edit: Here is the link for the nonbelievers, the Jaguars part begins at about 1:30

Average at best?
Pro Bowl numbers, 31TD's, Top 10 QB. That's average? You're an idiot.

As good as Bortles is now, and even better in the future (most likely), his numbers will probably go down when this team finds a strong O-line and running game.
That doesn't mean that Bortles will "regress" or anything like that. It'll just mean that the offense will get more of their yardage output on the ground, and TDs will go to the running game and away from Bortles.
But that's a good thing IMO. If his numbers drop because of rushing TDs and rushing yards from other guys, this offense will be almost DEADLY.
Seriously, imagine if Fred Taylor, MJD, and their O-line had Bortles and the Allens with it. Geez, Unstoppable.
I don't expect any running attack at a Fred Taylor "elite" level. But if theses current guys start producing,, look out! Bortles numbers might suffer a little, except in the Win column.

Agreed completely, though a strong, turnover producing and drive stifling defense might offset that to a degree because he'll have better field position from which to operate, and with more leads, they will be even harder to defend.
Either way, I really like what we have in Bortles.
He is still very young. Just turned 24 today. Still has things to improve upon. There are times he tries to do too much. There are times he could be quicker in his decision making.
Those are things that come with experience...and a little more help from the running game.
