lol at the people who thought his INT's were the problem.......the defense was always the issue. If you throw the ball 40 times/game, expect 1 INT

Bortles INT % rate this season at AGE 23 is 2.6%

Farve CAREER rate is 3.3%

Marino CAREER rate is 3.0%

Aikman CAREER rate is 3.0%

Brees CAREER rate is 2.6%

Peyton Manning CAREER rate is 2.7%

Elway CAREER rate is 3.1%

He's only 23; that's remarkable to be at 2.6% with as many shots as he takes downfield vs. game managers. His turnovers aren't an issue at all for a 2nd year player.

But... but... BBINT!
What is the value of comparing his INT% to QBs that played in different eras? Not to mention they sustained that success over the course of their careers and not for just one season. Bortles INT% is currently 19th in the league.

What is the value (to us) of you continuing to breathe?

Bortles INT rate is 19th in the league, pretty good for a 2nd year player.
I could have sworn Peyton and Brees played in this era.

For the most part, the majority of this message board LOVES Blake. You've posted this int stat in just about every thread you've entered. You argument is really not needed as we know he's a good one.
I think the issue with Bortles' INT's isn't really the total amount or percentage but rather the timing. They more than often not come at terrible times and for TDs. With that said, This hasn't been the case in the last half of this season. He is playing at a top 5 level.

Also I'd like to mention something about INTs. ITs alot like blood and sharks. The more INT's you get, The more DBs take risks to try and jump routes. The more blood is in the water, The sharks come. It really is the perfect comparison. Once the water settles however....the sharks back off.

We're not talking Unitas lol

Bortles 'int' rate is impressive when you look at it this way. However, lets be fair about what you're comparing him with. The rules of the game were quite different when Farve, Marino, Aikman, and Elway were getting started. Back then, quarterbacks were fair game and receivers could be nearly murdered. It's a considerably kinder, gentler game than it was back in the day. If you want a fairer comparison, compare Bortles to modern QB's and see where he is.

Not to mention that those metrics were determined over the course of many years in the NFL, not 13 games. The improvement Bortles has shown is a revelation, but he is still behind guys like Kaeprnick, Bridgewater, Cousins, Hoyer, Manziel, Taylor, and many other underwhelming QBs. His INT% is actually on par with rookies Mariota and Winston. Not saying he has been bad, but trying to force him into the category of elite QBs is nonsensical at this point.
Those INT rates of the veterans, and probably Hall Of Famers, likely came DOWN as their years went on. It's impressive BB's rate is better than those in only his 2nd year.

Timing? What a joke. He leads the NFL with a 22 TD- 1 INT in the red zone. You're either good or you're not good. You can nitpick all you want but Bortles makes LESS mistakes than MOST Hall of Famers THIS SEASON

You're just embarrassing yourself at this point as NOT ONE SINGLE person agrees with you.

"Im going to throw out the only statistic that agrees with me and ignore the rest" is basically what I read there. Any Pick-6 is bad timing and nearly kills your chances of victory "You're either good or not good" is a stupid shortsighted statement as well in terms of scouting a player. Nitpicking my post may be but Im 100% THRILLED about Bortles growth this season. He's gonna be a legend if he keeps the hard work up.
