wait.... So Denard does well spelling an injured Yeldon

then has some fumbling issues as a starter

and people think somehow they've made some point?

A single game does not make for a good sample size either way.

I love it when people dig up old threads to say "oooh ooh look, i told you so"

Message board drama queens.

If a 2 yard average is decent in your eyes, there's little to discuss here.

What happened to the week before that? It was one game, relax.
Glad to see you got your wish.  Fumbling is a highly underrated skill.

Hes a change of pace back, nothing more

I don't post a lot but I've said several times the past year, throughout this forum, that Yeldon and Robinson could be a very productive pair. Yeldon has played well enough, particularly in paid protection, top stay on the field. But Robinson hopefully has shown enough these two weeks that they're forced to get him on the field. 5-10 touches a game for D-Rob should be very realistic without significantly limiting Yeldon. Both have done developing still to do, but given what D-Rob has shown each year, no reason to believe he won't continue to progress.

And then what?
I personally could see him getting cut.   Denard has shown a tendency for fumbling.  The worst possible thing one can do as a RB is fumble the football. As a coach they got to ask themselves. Can they trust him in crucial situations?

Lol @ this thread

I never said he should be our starting running back. I still stand behind me saying he should get more carries behind Yeldon. He started 3 games in a row, thats bad. A game here or there is not a big deal.
You called for him to get more carries.  He did and got progressively worse and eventually lost carries to a newly signed Jonas Gray.

You are still taken solace in being right?

I hope we can get another RB that can split the load with Yeldon. Having him out there the entire game and keeping him as a three down back will take its toll eventually - I don't want to run him into retirement like we did with MJD...

I've always thought Denard was our best back.

Too bad it took so long for him to get healthy.

This thread makes me smile

Exactly. More carries simply exposed him.
I'm even angrier.

Hes a change of pace running back, in a lesser role that is designed more for his skill set, he looks solid. Im not sure what they do going forward, but Id expect Denard get a chance to redeem himself next season. The fumbling issue is fixable, but its also alarming he coughed it up that many times. The offensive line did not do either Yeldon or Denard any favors this year when it came to run protection. I think statistically, that was one of the worst units in the league this season. Not necessarily making excuses for fumbles as thats on Denard, but we were one of the worst teams in the league running the ball this season. Yeldon still was able to get 700 yards running which shows you the potential he has.

I dont anticipate running back being that high up their needs order when they are selecting in the draft. Maybe they draft a guy or bring someone in, but it won't be some eye popping name. Yeldon is the future and Id expect Denard here too next season.

So, next year when Yeldon is healthy again, we go "Back to the Future"?
