I didn't say I would rather have Leftwich than Bortles.  That does not reflect my feelings.

I responded to the statement Leftwich did not do anything better than Bortles.  The statement to which I responded does not reflect fact.

But thanks for the kudos!

RedRooster...I have been quite impressed with Bortles toughness.  I would rate his toughness on par with BLs.

It's unfortunate, however, that both QBs took the punishment they have making them have to rely upon their toughness more than they should have.

To me, from this point into the foreseeable future, the Jaguars top priority should be to obtain better protection for Bortles, and included in this is encouragement/coaching to get rid of the ball more quickly.  As to this last point, I think him and the receivers having a greater command of the offense will help in making quicker reads and decisions.

Agreed on all counts.
It annoys me that Bortles can throw deep ducks that still somehow end up where they need to end up. I'm not sure if thats just a huge props to our WR's/TE's, Bortles' luck, or a misguided importance on tight spirals.

Quote:Leftwich was better at nothing than Bortles.

Byron's deep passes had a better arc, spiral and touch than Blake's without the wobble that Blake occasionally puts on his passes, and Byron would rarely ever throw a dumb INT. His deep INTs were typically the result of incredible defensive plays. If Byron wasn't so slow in the pocket, he just might have been a great qb.

Byron never threw for 35 td's either nor lead the league in 20 plus yard passes. Unlike Byron, blake didn't refused to get better by not wanting to change his mechanics and didn't get benched because he was horse playing which caused him to injure himself which byron done in 2006. I don't care what byron did better than blake no GM with their job on the line would take byron over him. Byron was many things but mature wasn't one of them and don't dare point out leftwich W/L record against blake when he was playing with a couple of potential hall of famers on offense, Jimmy Smith, Fred Taylor and had on of the best defenses in the league behind him. What's next David Garrard was better than Blake too and if you feel that way as well then i can't help you.

Woah... I'm not at all trying to suggest Byron was the better qb. The claim I'm responding to was that Byron did nothing better than Blake. I beg to differ. Heck, Blaine Gabbert can run faster than Byron and Blake, but I would never say he's the better qb.

This thread represents an epic display of reading comprehension.

02, Bullseye etc, better watch what you say about our All Universe QB. Mrs. Bortles don't play.
I got an emotional rebuke from this. I do still staunchly believe that comprehension distinguishes. If a poster takes time to wtite, and you miss his/her primary point, sometimes on the first sentence, it should be noted. Especially since we have no clout as a franchise in terms of recent success. We can't go by recent record, history, or results.

Construe items, then you won't open doors for tongue in cheek, equally passionate, but neutral posters to react. Or, grow a pair as an astute member would say. Rant done. In the majestic islands, party done.
Triple
Quintuple. And the right spelling is 'write'. Cheers
Quadruple
Double post
Since Koetter but he's better than Koetter. Jedd Fisch was the worst OC I've ever seen.....running a draw for -2 yards with worst O line and best defensive front on 3rd and 8 vs. Ravens still haunts me.
