Bortles ceiling is higher than any QB in the NFL right now besides maybe Luck. Bortles IMPROVES every year (all 3 years in college). Next year, he will just be scary.
They are both good QBs. Both look better this year than last. Both have room to grow. Both are better than Bridgewater and Manziel
Both have promising futures. Their career's are written yet.
Bortles has the higher ceiling because of the intangibles. Also, pending our new future coaching staff we may have the edge in coaching. JDR's thoughts on a modern offense isn't going to rewrite the recordbooks.

Good insight. Im not sure I subscribe to the idea of coaching being of such significance as to allow carr to bridge the gap between him and Bortles potential-wise. Bortles I believe could be Brees/Big ben good. Carr I see in the same category as Palmer/Dalton/Newton. Either way, I expect both to be solid QBs.
Carr. Bortles. Does it really matter? The one thing I think we can all agree on here is that they are both way better than Bridgewater
Quote:I'm not sure how anyone can really say objectively that Bortles is having a better year than Carr. Carr's completion percentage is much higher, he has 4 less picks to 1 less TD, he's less than 100 yards behind, and when you watch him he just looks more in control in the pocket and more consistently accurate, at every level of the field. Saying Bortles is doing better is just bias honestly.
Yeah Carr has a higher completion percentage, because he throws WAY more screens and check downs than Blake, blake consistanly takes shots down field ... and u cannot tell me that Carrs down the field throws are more accurate than Bortles, that is blasphemous. The only reason he looks a little more "in control" in the pocket is because his oline is better as well as his coaching staff... if u wanna throw stats like the completion percentage it's not an arguement, for example Russell Wilson has the 2nd highest QB rating, he is definitely not to second best QB this year.

Amen
I think Mayock is maybe missing the point. Bortles was picked as a player who will develop and (hopefully) become really good. Carr was a more experienced ready-to-play QB, but I'm not sure he improves dramatically from here on.
Did you guys notice in the re draft there's no Allen Robinson in 1st rd. They still have Obj,Watkins and Evans in 1st rd. They
added Landry in 1st rd. Arob is way better the Watkins and Evans. I'd take Robinson over all of them including ObJ. Heck Hurns
is better then Evans and maybe even Watkins.

They also have Kelvin Benjamin, Jordan Matthews, Martavis Bryant, and Brandin Cooks in the first round.
I get that this draft was stacked with WRs, but he's definitely in the top 8 of that draft class.
Edit: Actually the author responded to a comment at the bottom and said ARob should in there and it was an oversight.
It doesn't matter who's better, our offense will be the the best in the league pretty soon. Carr isn't going to have the weapons that we have, and when Lee comes together... Oh man, we'll be unstoppable.
Go ahead a raise your hand if you were a Bridgewater lover
Carr going in on the Packers.

He threw two picks today including a pick six so calm down on the Derek Carr train.
