<p class="">His production has went down because he is much better at 4-3 DE IMO. If he does get cut hopefully Dave makes a nice push to bring this guy to Jax. Then sign Weddle, Berry, or Gipson and draft Hargreaves in the 1st. With a healthy Marks and Fowler coming back I think this defense can go from one of the worst to top 10 especially if we bring in a Sean McDermott as head coach. He is 30 yrs. old but has at least another good 3 years IMO. Peppers is 35, Ware is 33 and both having good season.
JPP will be a FA next year, so we have a better chance of getting him. I would not count on the Bills cutting Mario Williams.

Do you even want JPP based on the loss of a finger and the type of contract some other team might offer him?

I was not saying it would be a realistic possibility or that we should sign him. My point was if we want to go after a veteran DE, it would make more sense to talk about free agents than guys under contract.
Before the fireworks accident, I wished we had drafted JPP. It is a shame he can't be that good anymore.

It's possible though that Mario Williams could be on the open market before JPP.

That would be a big mistake by the Bills. There are other players they can cut to save money and they need Mario Williams.

On the surface, I agree. It would be difficult to replace Mario Williams on the open market. In the long run, a draft pick could effectively replace him. But that's not likely going to happen in 2016. Most, not all, rookie DEs go through plenty of growing pains.
Also, the Bills will be a long way from the top of the draft unless they trade up.
It would be awesome if they cut him and Dave picked him up. He would instantly be our best pass rusher by a large margin even at age 31 next year.
Draft Bosa, a healthy Fowler, Mario Williams, Berry/Weddle, and another guy like Bruce Irvin would go a long ways to making this defense more respectable.
Onenof the biggest surprises of the season has been Rex not doing anything with that Bills Dline. Who would have thought that.

Actually JPP has been balling since he's been back his stats may not show it but he's constantly causing pressure
