Quote:Man, I sure am glad the OP made this thread! I need a new venue in which I may state my frustrations.
There's hardly any available. It was needed.
Branch... no production to speak of at all except bad production.

Gratz... regularly looks lost, or if not lost, getting punked.

Clemons... a great player, but age is getting to him. He gets no help from the guy at the other end of the line.

I don't perceive that anyone else is really all that bad, their just 'meh'; they just don't look good in this scheme.

Clemons has to be the top of all lists.  With Fowler being placed on the IR, it all fell on him to be the guy on that line leading the way in providing a pass rush.  He has allowed his personal life to be a distraction since coming to Jacksonville, and for an older player, that lack of focus has caused problems.

Branch isn't really so much a disappointment as Clemons.  He's lived in the realm of underachievement for his entire time in Jacksonville.  The success he saw last year was due to the way they schemed to get him at the QB.  For whatever reason, that same focus this year isn't working.  Even when he's on the field, it's almost like he's not.  At this point, both he and Clemons are more or less warm bodies helping the team burn some cap space, and not much more.
I never blame a player for where they are drafted.

So that removes Cyp and Alualu from consideration.

Alualu is on his second contract and is a back up role player. He is what we thought he was, and as a FB possibly producing more. Cyp is not horrible, and few S will be Kam.

I had little to no expectations of Branch this season... if he disappointed you I think you were looking to the wrong bodies for production.

Gratz? Well, if coach would put him where he belongs on the depth chart (at the bottom) he wouldn't be disappointing us with his knack for giving up TDs and 3rd down conversions.

We didn't sign Odrick to show up huge on the stat sheet.... however, he is 2nd on the team in sacks, iirc.... So why you whining about that guy?

You left off Bennett (who many posters thought would push for starting time, hahaha)

Skuts, who has been good but not great, when not hurt...

but I'm done picking apart your poll....

Clemons is far and away the most disappointing.

8 sacks last year, coming into the year mostly healthy,

and then missing all the camp time (because Vets don't need to practice), "when it's game time he'll be ready"

2 sacks this year, mostly invisible, hasn't helped Branch at all,

Chris Clemons...

Branch by far. Gratz gets an honorable mention. I'm not going to blame Clemons too much as he wasn't expected to be a starter getting this much playing time. At his age, he was supposed to be a rotational guy with Fowler getting the bulk of the work at the LEO spot.
Branch was a high second round pick. I voted for him.
Top 5

1. Branch

2. Clemons

3. Gratz

4. Cyp

5. Wiz
How can anyone say Clem? Age finally caught up to him and its not his fault. The dude has nothing left in the tank and I'm actually surprised he's able to play as many snaps as he does. Gus needs to start Ryan Davis or Chris Smith over him, I don't understand why he hasn't yet.

Who drafted him that high?

not really his fault.....

Antonio Smith, Cullen Jenkins....

there are still old guys getting it done in the league...

Clemons fell off a cliff, he didn't just slow down. And he missed all of the camp time too. You can blame a veteran for not showing up... had he, and the coaches could have maybe seen he lost an extra step, maybe made a move....

He could have been in helping Branch or Davis or Smith with their moves....

It is EASY to call out Clem for being a disappointment.

8 sacks to 2?

No show all offseason.

I never expected much out of Branch... he didn't disappoint... he is who we thought he was.
Clemons and Branch could drop off the face of the earth and nobody would know they were missing. Well.. maybe their baby mommas.

I don't care where Branch and Clem are next year so long as it ain't here.
Quote:Odrik hasn't really been disappointing. Do you even football?

He's been pretty inconsistent though. He's had a few really good games and a few bad games. Not exactly an even performance week to week. Overall he's been ok.
I'm actually most disappointed in Demetrius McCray and Ryan Davis. We knew what we had for the most part with some of the other players talked about, but Davis and McCray were young guys who showed a lot of promise over the previous 2 years before this one. Seems like those guys are invisible now.

the jaguars. point is I expected more from a high draft pick
...MissJagsFanatic... because every time she tries to defend the Jags...she fails.

...badly.

I mean, replying to a a batty post is one thing, but bringing her up unprovoked is kind of creepy.
Andre Branch has been MIA, was giving him the benefit of the doubt early due to him coming off that knee injury but by now he should be in full swing

Quote:Cyprien is actually stringing together a good year. Mostly the last 5/6 games he's looked good.

He has looked a little better to the point that I say we let him compete next year with Evans for the backup SS spot, however, he should not be starting in this league.

Gotta go with McCray. He looked like our best CB last year and I thought he was poised for a breakout year. What the hell happened?!

Players fall off a cliff once they get too old man. Remember MJD in Oakland? The dude fell off a cliff. His was injuries, sure. Clemons is 34 years old, playing on a team that has no kind of chance at anything meaningful before he retires at the end of the year. He's certainly just collecting a paycheck at this point, but i think he's physically done too.
