Quote:Joey Bosa definitely was better last season, but I don't think he will drop to us because of a two-game suspension. Todd Gurley was suspended for weeks by the NCAA and drafted much higher than many people expected. If Bosa falls to us, I expect the reason to be either his 2015 performance or just the fact that teams have other needs to fill.

I disagree about picking linemen in both rounds. One of those two guys needs to be a ball-hawking defensive back.

I'd rather get a secondary guy in free agency.

We tried that already. The free agent (Davon House) is good, but not elite. We need to draft one.

We drafted Sample and Colvin. We need to sign a Gipson, Weddle, or Berry.
Quote:I could see Bosa slipping a bit. For one, his suspension was a red flag, two his production is way down, and three there is talk he could measure shorter than his listed 6'6" height. Regardless, if Bosa falls to us we would be foolish not to draft him. We should then turn around in the 2nd and draft another defensive lineman.

If bosa drops to around 5 and Ramsey is gone, hes probably the best player/need for the jags. Totally reasonable.
Quote:If Jax is within range of Bosa, then I hope they do whatever they can to get him.

This! Bosa and Fowler makes the secondary better. How lovely would it be to replace Branch and Clemons with Fowler and Bosa.
bosa the next jj watt, fowler the next von miller,  we will be invincible.

True best case scenario for me would be Hargreaves getting scored on a few times at the bowl game and then showing up at the combine weighing 180lbs.

I've already seen a few chirps about his stocking dipping a bit.

Let's get Bosa in the 1st and then get a dropping Hargreaves. A man can dream.

And we get Marks back too.

Of course, the only way to improve our secondary is get better players back there. Drafting a lineman is great, but only upgrades the line.
I have a strong feeling the Jags will beat Indy this week. They are not a good team without Luck and the Jags will be angry after the loss to the Titans. Hurns will also be back. I expect the Jags to win 2 more games including this week and picking around number 10. This would still enable them to get a solid Leo, linebacker or offensive tackle- although I believe they stick with Joeckel 1 more year. Doubling their victory total from last year and ending up with a player like J. Smith, Jack or Ogbah in the first would be fine with me.

Give me Bosa, or give me death!

They couldn't beat Indy without Luck the first time.
I hope they trade back and load up on linemen. This team can't pressure the QB or Keep their own QB off the ground.

We need to stay put to pick an elite lineman. All of them will be gone if we trade down.
This year isn't the year to trade down, IMO. That's batted around every single year on this MB, but I feel we don't need a ton of extra draft picks like the last few years, we need play makers and those are more likely at the top of the draft.

We're likely not picking in the top 4.  If we sign a big time pass rusher in free agency (or if their guy isn't available) it's possible a pass rusher isn't our pick and I could see us trading down if we're targeting a LB or a safety.

Forget trading down for a safety. If an elite cornerback is available, PICK HIM!

why are we likely not picking top 4?

Because other teams will lose and jump over us in the draft order.

Also, the thread title is wrong. Today we would we would get the #5 pick.

There are 10 teams with 4 or lower wins in the NFL.   We'd have to lose out to even have a chance (and last year the 4-12 teams picked 5th and 6th anyway).  It's not going to happen.  And even if it does, it's definitely no likely.
Using the ESPN Playoff Machine for a likely finish and looking at the bottom teams, I'm thinking we pick 10th (7th at the earliest)...

1. Browns 2-14

2. Titans 3-13

3. Chargers 4-12

4. Rams 4-12

5. Redskins 5-11 (assumes Eagles beat Redskins)

6. Dolphins 5-11

7. Cowboys 5-11

8. 49ers 6-10

9. Lions 6-10

10. Jaguars 6-10
