Quote:I was in the same boat about needing a true #1 at the beginning of the season, but Robinson has shown me that he is definitely a #1 in this league. And Hurns could honestly develop into a #1 type WR as well. I think we are set at WR.

Quote:If you think we don't have a true #1 WR, you have never seen Allen Robinson play.

Maybe I was mis-understood, I mean't a Z style TRUE #1 receiver. The Calvin Johnson/AJ green/Julio Jones type. Robinson is an X style and may be the most explosive one in the league right now. His qualities are very close to this "Z type" but he does lack elite speed. He just simply makes up for it with superior route running/seperation techniques and vertical leap.

Just think of having a Z style receiver (Elite speed, Hands, route running) take pressure off of robinson. The Jags could have the best offense in the NFL.
I think Carr will be putting up video game numbers next year. Bortles too. They're both still only second year players, what we're seeing from them this year is not their ceiling imo.

Robinson fits exactly into the mold of the guys you listed, idk what you're talking about. Robinson is the prototypical number 1 type receiver. Robinson is just as athletic as all those  guys. By your definition Dez Bryant is not a true number 1 receiver.

Robinson does not have elite speed. Look at his draft selection, His 40yd dash, etc. Elite speed is kind of the difference between Z and X usually despite both being outside receivers.
What does draft selection have to do with anything... Hurns went undrafted and we know how HAT turned out....

Robinson ran a 4.4 at his proday. Alshon Jeffery was a second round pick. Brandon Marshall was a second round pick. Where you were selected means nothing.

Green does not have elite speed either. He isn't slow and neither is Robinson, but Green doesn't have anywhere close to Calvin or Julio speed.
Hey, whatever AR15's speed is, he's beating corners downfield so keep it up, slow poke
Quote:I'm not going to call the offense amazing against Defenses like Tennessee's, Tampa Bay's, etc .. I would call it amazing when they can be more successful against the heavy hitters in the league.. the New England game is a better representation for me of where the offense is at. I know that game was earlier in the season, but the game was far more telling than beating up on below .500 teams
You do realize that before last week, the tacks were ranked 9th in pass defense, right? Yes, they suck...they're the tacks but for all their issues, they aren't scrubs defensively...and Blake and Robinson basically did what they wanted, when they wanted.

So it's not outside the scope of reason to be excited for the future of this offense. Did we just hang 40 on Denver or Arizona? No...but it's not like they just did that against out abysmal D.

Elite speed is a great thing for receivers, but none of those other skills "make up for it." Wide receivers need all of them. Also, a player can be the world's fastest man and drop the ball.

That's very true. We've had guys here who had genuine world class speed... but who also had 'butter fingers'.
ARob ran a 4.47 at his pro day I believe.

AJ Green was a 4.5

Dez a 4.52

Julio a 4.39

AB a 4.47

Jeffery a 4.43

So let's put the speed issue to bed with all the other knocks people keep coming up with
AB ran a 4.47?
AMAZING?????? Gee, you have really set the bar low!

So when the offense can put up 5 TD's against defenses in the top 5, what do you call them? Super Ultra Amazing?
