Luck: 54.1 Cmp Percentage / 4374 yards / 7.0 avg / 23 TD / 18 INT
Bortles: 57.0 Cmp Percentage / 2952 yards / 6.8 AVG / 22 TDs / 13 INT (5 games remaining.
I'm comparing year 2 of Bortles to year 1 of Luck based on Luck being the most pro-ready QB in decades, and Bortles being possibly the least pro-ready first round QB in decades. Luck was praised for these numbers his rookie season and so far this year Bortles looks to demolish his amount of Tds, and probably match his INT's, whilst maintaining similar yardage and a better completion percentage.
Just thought these stats were interesting due to Luck being praised by everybody that year and Bortles still getting a ton of heat.
Compare the wins and losses. Yeah, that's why Luck was praised. That, and the fact that he was Manning's successor.
I just don't understand this constant necessity to compare Bortles to Luck....or Manning...or Mariota...or Carr...or Winston...or [insert QB here].
I don't care if Bortles is just Bortles and he's good enough to give us a chance at a Super Bowl or two.
Bortles is a stud. This second year is exactly where we'd all hoped he'd be in terms of developing into "the man."
The only people giving him heat are grumpy Jags MBers who find it impossible to think globally about building a roster from scratch, and think that progress is like a rocket that just goes straight up into the stratosphere.

It's a message board. You can ignore this topic and post your own. Sounds like you're on to something about hoping Blake is good enough to give us a chance at a SB or 2. Post that so people can discuss. I'm sure that topic will take off ...

So you're saying don't post on a thread if you don't agree with it? Well yeah...that always happens.
Luck being pro ready is still not really a good comparison you still see things and learn from them in the first year.
I think Luck came in at, or very near his ceiling...which isn't a slight. It will be interesting to look back on Blake in a couple of years and see how much he has or hasn't grown.
Hard to not be excited by Bortles though
Compare Blake to Luck's 2nd year and Blake is still putting up better numbers with a few more INTs.

'least pro ready'... you forgot about gabbert.
Luck also rushed for 5 TDs. This needs to be factored in

Then the yards, and first down percentage does as well!
Luck 355 3.1 36% resulted in first downs.
Blake through 11 games. 345 6.6 48% first downs
Luck had 30 more rushing attempts than Blake does right now.

Exactly...if he wins us a super bowl...who cares what his stats are?
Its just that Blake interceptions ALWAYS come at the worst possible moment. Once he gets those ints down were be rolling.

It's only ok if you are wanting to fire someone.
Then you can post that in any thread you want and repeat yourself over and over as many times as you like.

Mental growth honestly, he makes his money with those deep risk balls to AR-15/Hurns but he needs to realize that you can't do that in such critical moments all the time.

They all seem to be at the worst possible moment because this team hasnt had comfortable leads and is always battling to stay in games

This.
If the defense could actually get off the field more often and both our offense and defense become slightly better in the red zone, all of a sudden, Bortles' INTs won't come at the "worst possible moment" even if he continues to make them at the same rate he does now.
There is no good moment for an INT unless it is 4th down or a long pass on 3rd down or something. Odds are you are either giving it up where the opponent is in good position to score (on your own side of the field) or giving it up where you were in good position to score (the opponents side). There are only 2 sides to a football field.
Bortles > Luck for career. Book it.
