Quote:Oh a side note, has that blowhard Mike Carey EVER come close to disagreeing with one of his former peers? His position in the broadcast is totally worthless.

haha I said this in one of the gameday threads (must have been the TNF game), his opinion is useless, he'll 100% agree with the call.  At least Pereira or w/e his name is on Fox will have differing opinions.
Quote:And that happens a lot too!!
Yep!! I find myself telling him to shut up just about every time he talks. Haha.
Detroit got robbed.
OMG That ending was unbelievable! My throat hurts from screaming. Aaron Rodgers sounded like the happiest man in the world while talking to Tracy Wolfson.

The face mask penalty was borderline but enough to make the defender look stupid. He apparently was trying to grab Aaron's face mask. Tell me why his hand was not on the shoulder pad or jersey instead. That penalty reminded me of the more obvious one by Elvis Dumervil.

Detroit killed itself. All defensive linemen know to never even try to grab the quarterback's helmet.

Looked like he tapped the facemask and grabbed the shoulder pad

He didn't attempt to grab his helmet. His thumb pushed against Rodger's face mask as he was grabbing his shoulder pad.

It definitely was not like Elvis Dumervil's game-killing penalty. I can understand why people might think it was a bad call. But being a Packers fan, I can only be happy it was called.
That call highlights the double standards refs practice for QBs. Even this week's "C'mon Man" segment on MNF highlighted the favoritism officials exercise for elite QBs. They even used Rodgers as the example. Had this 'foul' been committed against someone like Bortles, Detroit would have the victory tonight.

OTOH if the Hail Mary pass fell incomplete, nobody would have any reason to say Detroit was robbed. Detroit would have won the game. It was up to the Lions to sack Aaron before he could connect with Richard.
Looks like the Hail Mary play already has a name: Motor City Miracle. NFL.com is calling it that.

The point being that GB should have not have even had the opportunity to throw the Hail Mary pass if the tackle was called correctly.

You read that wrong. It would have been a failed pass attempt if someone sacked him on the last play.

Definitely disagree here.  He disagreed with at least one call on one of the Thanksgiving games...for sure.

That happens very rarely. He agrees with almost every call on the field.

Mike Periera is much better because he was an officiating supervisor, so his previous job involved correcting officials who make mistakes. Mike Carey was just a referee.

But...um...*sigh*...never mind.

Welcome to middle management, or the Junior Officer's club of most any Western military.

Can you guess where Mike Periera got his experience?  So since he has a new title that automatically makes him more knowledgeable?  He was just a referee as well.

Guess what?  They're both just giving opinions.
every night game since last thursday has been decided on the last play

Going by the date of this post, that is only one game.
