Quote:It seems the gameplan is to hope the wide receivers can't catch. Honestly the drops are the only thing that allowed the defense to get off the field.

Honestly we shouldn't respect anyone defensively. They were respecting rivers too much and he still burned them for 4 Tds. If you rush more and disguise some of that pressure the jags may come up with a turnover. Just one might turned the game. But it's stupid for me to sit here and expect anything different from this coaching staff. They want to rush four as if we had a stacked d line. Gus is probably just waiting for David to draft 4 studs. Then it will be Taylor made for Gus's coaching style.
I don't think anything is taylor made for this coaching staff.  I'm starting to believe the idea that you can copy someone else is a foolish path that leads to mediocrity.  Del Rio didn't end well but at least he had his own ideas.  It is too bad that the drafting turned awful.

Quote:Here is an important stat...Branch and Clemons combined for a whopping 3 penalties and 1 tackle all night.
I'll tell you what else, Clemons and Smith lost contain numerous times on Rivers trying to make a move inside. There was no blitz coming off the edge, no games run with the tackle, just being selfish and trying to take an inside move. If you do that, you'd better get that sack.

It helped lead to those 1st down scrambles by Rivers.
The thing that some people fail to realize.  It's not like Rivers (or any other QB that we have played) had "all day" to throw and make a decision.  These veteran QB's typically get the ball out very quick (around 2 seconds).  Even with a blitz it's hard to get to the QB in under 2 seconds, and you can't do it all the time.

so right, by the time you get there ball is gone......really a dang you do dang you don't.

They could have covered better for sure

That 4th and 7 play by River was like watching a car crash in slow motion. So frustrating.
The whole game plan stunk. That's on the Coach. Sick

So tell us what the game plan was.
The struggles are the faults of both the players and coaches. I am not a fan of Gus, but yesterday's loss was not all his fault. However, you still see the poor game-management decisions (ex: timeout on a 3rd and long, and then it is converted). You can see the team is poorly prepared, and they poorly adjust to what the other coaching staff does. Not sure if that's something Gus will ever get better at, and that worries me if he is kept, past this season. Bortles is not the type of qb that can carry us to wins, yet. His INT yesterday was bad... really bad, but not what cost us the game, IMO. For Yeldon to only have 9 carries throughout the entire game, against the worst run defense in the league, tells me the coaching staff is trying to put it all on bortles. No wonder why he keeps making these boneheaded decisions and throwing passes past the LOS. Dude is pressing way too much because the coaches want it that way. Very frustrating.

The redzone offensive woes, I blame on the players. The plays weren't being executed, although they should still run yeldon inside the 20 wayyyy more. The offsides and other boneheaded defensive penalties, I blame on the players. Poz, Telvin, Miller, and Odrick played pretty well, but Cyp was back to his former self, taking bad angles and missing tackles.

In reality, why don't we just send the safety on every play.  Seriously.  When was the last time you saw the FS for this team actually make a play in coverage?  There's no point to have him 30 yards off the ball playing deep centerfield if he can't make the play.
