Well, I'm fairly certain that most all fans are very glad the Jags have Bortles (I am one of them).
However, I am also fairly certain that most fans get upset/critical when Bortles throws a bad INT that leads to easy TDs. Nobody likes that either.
This team has problems in both sides of the ball.
Offense:
Turnovers (leading to easy TDs)
Red zone inefficiency
Bortles decision making
O-line
Defense:
Secondary
Pass Rush
Giving up drives at Critical times
It's not only the defense man. Bortles has alot of improvement to make also.
Bortles knows going into every game that the defense is gonna give up a lot of points......therefore he knows to have a chance he's gonna have to force a few things.......That and the offensive line is garbage.
You all just figured it out that ur DEFENSE is the core of us losing games. No defense no win. That's just the way it is. See u all in 2018, for the division championship.

Gus Bradley is supposed to be a defensive coach and we have a #25-30 ranked defense EVERY YEAR. Bortles is the best player on the team; anyone blaming him doesn't know football. He gives us a CHANCE to win every game but our defense gives up 28 POINTS PER GAME. The Vikings are in the playoffs and gave up 10 points and 17 ppg for the season.
Defense is the reason the Jags suck. The offense is pretty good. Gus Bradley is a joke and any real owner would have fired him by now. Jerry Jones, Kraft, etc wouldn't put up with a defensive coach who gives up 28 PPG. Khan doesn't know how to win.

You rush throws, take unnecessary sacks. You had 2 illegal forward passes. Throws a pick before half. Waste seconds before the end of the 3rd Q instead of getting a play off. You don't put the blame on the D. They do their job. No team out there can keep a team from scoring at all. It's the offense that needs to put points on the board. Everybody saw the commercials about more big plays. You can't play patty cake down the field and expect to win. That's why it got picked, that's why you can't run either. You throw deep, DB's will play back for that deep ball and not be so close to stop the run. So you really think Bortles is the best player? We are in a whole lot of trouble.

Defense keeps you close and in the game. They stop the deep balls and puts pressure on the qb. Show me a team with a bad defense thats heading to the playoffs or wins a super bowl. Exactly.
Throwing pick 6's or interceptions deep in your own territory where the other team is already in scoring position is not a recipe for success. Blake can't continue to do that for us to expect to win consistently. To be fair to Blake, our running game is not respected by opposing defenses so Blake is having to do too much in year two. Blake obviously makes us more competitive than we've been in years and he does make plays but he also throws bad interceptions in almost every game. It's ok to identify that as part of the problem. It doesn't mean any fair minded individual is calling for his head. He just needs to clean that up as he continues to progress and it would also really benefit him if he had anything that resembled a running game to lean on. And no, the defense isn't good enough to bail him out, but most defenses in the league aren't good enough to bail a QB out of the positions Blake puts his defense in at times.

There may be some merit to that. Seattle's defense isn't good anymore. I can't say Dan Quinn was better because his Falcons D is terrible as well.
I think it's more than just the defense's fault (although they are certainly to blame as well).

Exactly, and in one game that season Brunell had 0TD's and 5 Ints...5!! The jags only lost by 3 on that particular game..still in it despite the horrid performance by Brunell.
Had this been Bortles...his team would be down by at least 3 scores due to an inept defense.

Where were you last week space? You know, when the offense couldn't do anything but kick FGs,, and the defense/special teams stepped up and won that game? I was looking for ya.
And,, I know you're too young to remember actually watching a good chunk of Favre's career. You don't remember alot of killer INTs that cost his team some really big games.
Idk why u think I don't like Bortles.? Maybe it's because I see reality and see some of his mistakes are costly that CONTRIBUTE (I didn't say CAUSE) the Jags to have a rough time?

There's a few things wrong with this team and will be for the remainder of this season. Bortles still figuring it out and yes still making some dumb throws and decisions, he also looks amazing at times. Yep the defense isn't all world, but Rivers is a top 10 maybe 5 QB and we all kind of knew he was probably going to have a field day. And he did. Ok, this is my shocked face.
It's not so much the entire defense stinks, it's the lack of rush that's the main problem. Blame Gus or the defensive coordinator but the player isn't on the roster right now to fix the problem. Fix that and this defense would be pretty good.
