Solomon Thomas, Or pick the QB. Watson or Trubisky. No RB, and thankfully no S in the top 5.

agreed, Adams was the only one we would of taken at 4. With the Church signing its either trade back or take Fournette

Charles Woods did and I can see Chi taking Adams but that is the only shot

I'd rather have Solomon Thomas but it boggles my mind how this fanbase has picked up this deep hatred for Fournette at 4.
I'm with you.

I think there is a bias against power backs generally, but I don't get the hate towards Fournette.
Quote:Also, do you remember when Coughlin drafted Henderson and Stroud in back-to-back years? The two blossomed together as the Twin Towers absolutely dominating inside. We could do the same thing now with back-to-back stellar CBs.
I think the idea of TC having two stud CBs is an interesting one, considering he's never had that before.

Neither have we.

Assuming Church and Campbell, I think the choices are likely to be

a.  Fournette

b.  Lattimore

c.  Howard

d.  QB X (Watson)
Still have work to do in free agency. If they target Lang, Waford & Zeitler you could make a case that they're possibly eyeing Fournette. Which, personally. I don't know about that pick. If you spend an arm and a leg to upgrade the interior I think you should give Ivory / Yeldon / Grant a chance in 2017.

I'd rather see them invest in Lattimore at CB if they don't end up landing Bouye or Hooker to play FS to push Gipson off the roster if they're comfortable enough with Church at SS. Which based on his contract seems to indicate that. But if they're eyeing Fournette at this point I'd rather see a trade down where we end up taking Lamp to play LT or RT or Howard to play TE.

Quote:Lattimore, Lamp/Ramczyk, Hooker, Fournette/Cook and Howard all seem to be a bit more in play at #4 than they were 24 hours ago.

I honestly have no clue what they'll do at 4.  Trading down just keeps looking better and better though.

From a needs perspective, this would be correct.

But from a talent perspective, I see no way Lamp/Ramczyk are drafted that high.
I said in the draft Trubisky at 3 thread. You don't draft running backs or safeties in the top 5 unless they are game changers. They may view Fournette that way, but I never got the vibe with Adams.

I think Thomas is the pick if he's there, but I'm telling you guys don't be surprised if we pick a QB at 3. We're not gonna be this close again for a long time, Tom doesn't seem like a huge Bottles fan, and I think Watson and Trubisky are seriously gonna be in play for us at 4. I don't think it happens ultimately, but I won't be shocked if it does.

Give me Thomas Watson or Trubisky in round 1. Take the woman beater in round 2 if you must.
Quote:I'd say the likelihood of Fournette being the pick now is like 85%.

Not really.   We have serviceable running backs, but we have a big hole at CB, which is more of a premium position.

Good post.   I agree with that.

I agree.  Great CBs who can play without help can free up other players to do other things.

I wouldn't hate LF at #4. But that O-line better block like crazy to allow him to go downhill.

We don't want LF dancing in the backfield trying to avoid penetration by the defense.

On a slight tilt, everyone talks about LF as this generational RB with his size and speed. And yes he's 240 lbs, but Fred at 228 was faster, more explosive, AND have the vision, cutback, and agility of Cook.

HoF why you no pay attention?
Tom or Dave will not draft Fournette. Get over it.

Size and speed?   I don't get that.   He ran a 4.5 at the Combine.   That's hardly "generational speed" no matter how big he is.   If he weighed 320 that would be "generational size/speed, but he doesn't.   He's just a big running back.

I agree with you about Fred.  Fred was amazing.
This is going to be one of those "Look back at it and laugh" posts when we draft Fournette and he becomes a 1,600 yard rusher.

If Tom is not sold on Fournette, do we trade down for a RB needy team? Maybe the Panthers want to get ahead of NYJ to snag a RB.

If they pay Zeitler or some other "road-grating" OG (instead of a top CB) in free agency, I think they will be setting things up to draft Fournette and try to become like the Titans to offset Bortles' troubles.  Secondary is deep and we can get a CB in round 2/3, or maybe resign Amukamara.

I kind of hope they do this, and pass on Martellius Bennett in Free Agency, then draft a TE with the other pick.

1. RB L. Fournette  (scared of injury/bust potential, but he has star potential, and we need playmakers)

2. CB/TE

3. TE/CB

Depends who falls to the 2nd round.  If TE Njoku is still there at #35, you take him and get a CB later.  If Njoku is gone, and Quincy Wilson or Adoree' Jackson are there in round 2, you take a CB, and wait until 3rd to get a TE.

Trade down, grab a CB at a more reasonable spot in the first round. AND depending what they get for the pick, I am still on the Jabrill Peppers train back end of 1st/2nd round.

If njoku is there in the 2nd, there shouldn't be any hesitation in running up the card. He's the best tight end in the draft IMO.

That is a very solid idea. Like this a lot.
