Quote:It's guaranteed for injury only. Whoever claims him won't be on the hook for any of that, unless he gets injured, if they choose to cut him before the 2016 league year starts. I'm pretty confident he gets picked up by some 4-3 team off of waivers and I hope it's us.
I guess whoever gets him will be doing it under a tryout basis and either not resign him or do a 1-2 year prove it contract as a 4-3 end. id be for it I think he would add to our rotation
I'm not usually a fan of signing insert-name-here who was just cut in the middle of the season, but I would love for Dave to bring in Coples. The guy has so much talent it's ridiculous, he just lacks motivation. F Gus can't motivate him, can't nobody motivate him!

Yea, Gus has that ability, that is for sure.
I am always interested when guys play out of position with the team that drafted them. I remember Paul Kuharsky saying that Marks was playing a different role in Tennessee than he did in college and he thought he might thrive elsewhere.
Not saying Coples would pull a Marks, but we need help at pass rush right now. Especially now that we are playoff contenders!
Are we third on waiver claims? If so we'd only need the Texans and Bucs to pass on him.

I think waiver claims are readjusted after week 6 or something
Would 100% grab him. He's got talent, just need to make it work.
No harm in looking at him
I would definitely pick him up. No harm no could at this point. The question is who do we cut? Will it be someone amongst the DLine?

Hopefully Gratz...

Neal Sterling. Stick him back on the PS while he still has eligibility.

Or Banyard since we don't really need five backs with Yeldon healthy enough to play.
Teams have 24 hours to put in a waiver claim, so we should hear something this afternoon.
Maybe he could be the Clyde Simmons so this Jag's team playoff run.
(Not saying he is Clyde Simmons)
Quote:^ The measurables between Bowers and Coples are very similar too.
Bowers:
6'4" tall
288 lbs
33 1/8" arm length
10 1/4" hand size
Coples:
6'6" tall
290 lbs
33 1/4" arm length
10 1/4" hand size
True,
Coples : 16.5 Career sacks (6.5 last year)
Bowers : 7 Career Sacks (Highest in 2012 with 3)
Give me Coples.........

I'd take em both for now

With the 5th year option picked up, I would be surprised if he is claimed.

Bowers suck bad, i'll take Coples with Marks out for the year
Quick question, if he were to go unclaimed, wouldn't he be eligible for a spot on someone's practice squad? Not that I expect that, but it would seem to be a nice way to save a lot of money on a guy who was a former 1st rounder.

<p class="" style="color:rgb(41,47,51);font-family:'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">The <a class="" href='https://twitter.com/hashtag/Dolphins?src=hash'>#Dolphins</a> claimed pass-rusher Quinton Coples, filling a need on the edge.
<p class="" style="color:rgb(41,47,51);font-family:'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">
<p class="" style="color:rgb(41,47,51);font-family:'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">Darn, pretty sure they were the team right ahead of us in the waiver order. Not sure if we put in a claim or not though.
Apparently we didn't.

<p class="" style="color:rgb(41,47,51);font-family:'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">So the Dolphins claimed DE Quinton Coples off waivers. Because people will ask: The Jaguars had no interest.
