Went and pulled up some highlights on dude, looks like a good tackler, with good technique, and good awareness.. Not the big hitter but ill take the consistency...

I got soo tired of watching Cyprien whiff tackles.. And if somebody runs pass him he couldnt catch him.. Smh

Dallas star says he can hit like a tank.

Whom just signed an multi year extension w/Miami...

NH3...
Quote:Church is not an upgrade at all… He gets caught out of position a lot, as we will see if he starts for us next year.

Not a fan of this move.

Only people in here would say such a thing.

I've watch some Dallas games and Church has always been decent, making a few plays here and there. Is he great? No, Is he a Pro Bowler? No, but he is a clear upgrade over Cyprien.

Thank God I don't have to see that guy celebrate a tackle after the RB gained 7+ yards.

I watch 3 highlight tape, didn't see it... He creates a lot of fumbles tho..

NFL assistant on Church to #Jaguars: "They want interchangeable safeties. They don't want the Kam/Cyp type anymore."

Because the crap didn't work. We are not the Seahawks

Or 15 yard catch lol
My buddy is a die hard cowboys fan and he's pissed they let him walk, basically said he was the leader of thier def nse.
Church is definitely starting and I don't see how anyone can say $6M a year for a safety is cheap.  Puts him near the top of the pay scale.

What this says most is that Tom is looking for leaders in the locker room.  Church and Albert are both know for being locker room leaders, and this team needs that strong veteran presence to change the culture.

Tom said the team needs to be tough.  That's the kind of players he's signing.

Good points
Got no problem with Church. Do wonder if this will result in a comp pick for the Boys like when they got one for Parnell. That pick ended up being Dak. They made the pick when they caught wind the Jags were pick him next with their pick. Always something happens lol.

This signing is fine since he looks like a slight upgrade and the price is not crazy. I'm a little disappointed that Adams is now not a consideration since he looks like a future pro-bowler. It looks pretty obvious that the 1st rounder will be either Thomas, Allen or Fournette.

It'll be funny if Cyp winds up with a larger deal from the dookies.

I lold
I always miss church during the season but now I'll see Church every Sunday...

NH3...
He's our starter for sure.
For all the guys wanting Adams at #4, you might as well redo your draft board. Church will be our starter.

I get this but let's be honest, Cyp played like a starter this past year too (not the seasons before that).  I don't know if it's an upgrade, just a different dude.  Nonetheless, we have a starting caliber Safety, check.

Well said. I think Church is the same dude, however he has some leadership qualities that Cyp lacks.

He was the leader of that Dallas defense. In other words he plays with heart. I'll take that every Sunday.

I don't think Cyp ever lacked heart when he played. It was more of a skill issue for him.
