That's just it... it wasn't "fine."


 

Fortunately they didn't have powerhouse running games to defend against early on, but that early unit without Marks had all sorts of issues. They didn't really look "fine" until the past couple weeks.

I disagree.

 

Carolina: 35 carries for 105 yards, 3.0 yard average.

Miami: 16 carries for 42 yards, 2.6 yard average.

New England: 32 carries for 125 yards, 3.9 yard average.

Indianapolis: 24 carries for 60 yards, 2.5 yard average.

Tampa Bay: 40 carries for 183 yards, 4.6 yard average.

 

When tallied up, our opponents yards per carry over the five games in which Marks did not play in was 3.5 yards per rush. Based off the current stats, that number would put us tied for 1st in the entire league. Sure, we're definitely better with Marks in there, but without him we were far from bad.

Our rush defense numbers are slightly skewed, due to the fact that everyone decides to just throw on our anemic pass rush

Jeff Darlington of NFL Media reports that the Jaguars have officially ruled DT Sen’Derrick Marks out for the season, and are expected to place him on season-ending injured reserve by Thursday.
 
Marks suffered a torn triceps during their Week 10 game against the Ravens, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise, even though he was seeking a second opinion.

Jeff Darlington reports that Jaguars WR Allen Hurns is back from his visit with a core specialist in Philadelphia, and all signs still point toward him playing Thursday.

This sucks but he should be fully recovered next year

 

we still need some young talented DT's, Miller and Marks are getting up there in age and having injuries

Well that sucks, but was expected. This D-line is hurting bad. Needs an off-season overhaul.

I'm keeping my eye on A'Shawn Robinson...

depending on if we target the LEO position in FA Robinson is a DT who is showing very nicely in his junior year.

 

If he comes out early (he has a first round grade now, so I don't see why not) he'd be a good selection in the middle of the first (I suspect we'll be drafting 10-14)

 

if we select earlier, Nkemdiche seems an obvious choice.

Yea he prob go in the 1st round tho, depending on his measurables

Marks' second opinion confirmed he wouldn't be ready for the season's final seven games. It's a major blow for a player who tore his ACL late in 2014. Marks has been a useful player, but his recent injury history could have the Jags looking to move on. He turns 29 in February, and is due $3.45 million in 2016.



Why would we move on? Stupid

Yeah, I don't get that. And 3.4 million is not much for a starting DT.
