Apparently this is why there usually is a team wearing white jerseys:

It was especially bad tonight because the colors were red and green, so maybe more colorblind men will recognize us in our gold uniforms. (Red-green is the most common type.) But some guys likely will have a problem next week too. Hopefully Nike will hear complaints such as the tweets in this article so they will never do it again. You would think the NFL knew better because there are some colorblind players - former and current (after all, it is a men's sport). For all I know maybe there are colorblind coaches too. Alternate uniforms are great, but please NFL, make sure there is always a white team!
Way to think this one through, NFL.
I love that last tweet... I wonder if any QB in the NFL currently is color blind?

LOL Possible, but probably not. I don't think quarterbacks would have a problem with it because every team has a different logo and uniform design. Also, last night was probably the first time neither team wore white.
Apparently the Jets had a stripe going down their pants that really helped in differentiating who they were...at least to a guy I saw on Facebook complaining about it.
I think its hilarious mostly because I don't have the problem. If it were me/my team and I had this issue it would get annoying over the course of the game.

I don't know about currently but Roger Staubach was.
Can you imagine if we had done an all teal with the tacks doing their all powder blue? Oh my word :yucky:

That is exactly why nike is putting us in gold. Teal vs light blue is awful and 'black' doesn't scream color rush.

Right. Also, black is our primary color anyway, so dullsville. I'm excited about the Gold.
I'm an electrician by trade and I know some really good electricians that are colorblind. If it's that big of a deal either don't watch or use the colorblind setting on your tv.
Back in 2010 on Thanksgiving Day, both the Patriots and Lions wore throwback uniforms with color jerseys. The following link will take you to some photos from that game. The color blind issue is something I don't recall being mentioned at the time. I'm not sure how many people can't tell the difference between red and blue, compared to red ( Bills ) and green ( Jets ). It's best moving forward that one team wears white:

And Vinny Testaverde. I assume there were a few others.

If Nike actually was thinking about colorblind fans for our game, they would not have done this for the Bills and Jets. Most likely they just knew fans don't want to see teal vs. light blue. Unlike red and green, those colors are close on the color wheel.

How do they know what to put where?
I had never heard of a colorblind setting on televisions.

In those pictures, the Lions have gray pants and the Patriots have white pants with stripes. Easy to tell the difference, unlike last night when the jerseys and pants where the same color for both teams.
Red vs.blue is easier to see than red vs. green, which probably is why there weren't too many complaints about that game lacking a white team.

I agree with you that the pants differences were greater in the 2010 Thanksgiving Day game than last night's game. Yet, for those who have difficulty seeing the difference between blue and red, it probably was still uncomfortable for them when watching the Patriots- Lions game.
On a more serious note, those that are red/ green colorblind could easily have problems with traffic and other road lights that involve green and red.

Every Browns QB.
I am a Browns fan. : /

I read about a woman who turned left on red when she drove herself to an eye appointment. The doctor asked her, Everyone honked at her. "How did you get here?" and she answered, "Very badly." (A disease, not the genetic disorder, caused her problem.) OTOH I used to have a taxi driver who said all houses look purple.

LOL You might want to change teams and root for the Jags. It took a while, but Blake Bortles is throwing far fewer balls to other teams.
That reminds me of another joke. Years ago my boss, a diehard Browns fan, said he likes Vinny Testaverde (a Raven at the time) because "he always throws the ball to the other team." Now we know why.

This is a commom misconception, although there are varying degrees of colorblindness, sometimes the shade of the color matters. It doesn't necessarily mean that you can't differentiate between red and green.
Men are far more susceptible to color blindness.
Left handed people are more prone than right handed.
Oh, and I am red/green colorblind and I almost always tell red from green. I just 'see it differently' than someone who isn't.
I'm gonna wish I was colorblind on Thursday night

Differentiating purple from certain shades of blue probably is difficult for some people.

When looking at the uniforms that the Bills and Jets wore last night, were you able to differentiate them w/o significant difficulty?
