Full Version: Why not put Denard as kick returner?

Quote:I mean, as someone stated, he's not very good at it and doesn't have the best hands. Name recognition doesn't make you better. Marshall has done fine except that one muffin.

mmm muffins
Quote:And? How does that make him 'certainly a better option' than Marshall? Actually you have no idea. It's just because Marshall muffed a punt. Marshall averaged 29.3 per kickoff return on Sunday and has average 27.2 overall on his 5 returns, but you say that Robinson is 'certainly a better option' even though he's average only 22. I wish I had your crystal ball...I'd love the lottery numbers.

Last time Robinson did it was a few years ago. Different special teams, different players. I dont trust Marshall at all. I really think hes a waste of a roster spot.

So he's a waste of a roster spot because he fumbled a punt.  Robinson has had some bad fumbles too.  But you 'trust' him.  Kinda weird.
Quote:If he wasnt healthy, he wouldnt be in the game occasionally. You dont think hes healthy enough to return kicks? Im sure he is.
Well, thank goodness you're sure.  The fact that he's been as limited as he has been since the knee injury is apparently an indication that he's healthy and ready to go in your world.

I'm curious.  Were you calling for Marshall to be benched prior to that muff because he had a couple of good returns during the game.  He took his eye off the ball on one and suddenly we need to put someone else out there.  Couldn't possibly be a learning experience for him, right?  He must be benched.
Someone asked a fair question on twitter:

Fair question: Why would you have faith in a rookie punt returner to field an important punt in the 4Q if you don't trust him inside 10.

I absolutely agree with this.

You're kidding. He was one of several plays that hurt badly. There were several, and his gaffe wasn't even the last one.
I don't have a problem with Marshall continuing, but Denard must feel a bit unlucky to have lost the KR job, first to Grant and then to Marshall. When the season started we were told he would be the KR and it seems that since his early season injury he has been out of the equation. And given his lack of production at RB (in the few chances he's had) he might be getting worried about his long term future.
Quote:I don't think he's 100% healthy.  It's not some grand conspiracy.

I don't know if DRob is 100 percent... I thought he was... but at any rate, that's not why he's not out there on KRs. He's not out there because the team feels Marshall is better at picking up yards in the return game. I don't see that suddenly changing unless Gus opts to send a message or something by benching Marshall.

Most likely, Nick will get the green light to remain their KR return guy. For one, that was a PR and not a KR that he muffed. It looked like they were just starting to experiment with Marshall on PRs and I would understand if that part changes. But on KRs I see no reason to think that Marshall is not our best option. Of course this could easily change if Nick were to muff another return.

I'm fine with Marshall. Other than his 1 muff in 8 weeks. He's been solid. Give him a break

I screamed out loud when he fumbled, but I won't release him over 1 fumble. He is a good gunner and punt returner.
Well Well, I guess the team listened to me. I think it was obvious that this should of been done.
Did he even take one out of the endzone though? All I remember is touchbacks. That being said I'm happy with Greene at PR and Robinson at KR. Saves them having to use a roster slot or a gameday spot on a ST-only guy. Especially next year when our roster should theoretically be deeper.

No he didn't. But he's the best option of kick returner like I've been saying.
