Quote:gives it up because Joeckel/ poz whoever was on that one fails at grabbing it.

these 2 players aren't even on the field at the same time....
Quote:Who decides not to put Walters in the game when you are getting the final possession on the punt? SMH

Regards..................the Chiefjag
Maybe Walters muffed some punts in practice this week.
Quote:we keep putting the ball into some of our worst player's hands.

Corey Grant in Tampa.

Toby Gerhart in London.

Nick Marshall as the punt returner almost every game.

Those players have not proven anything worthy of having the ball in their hand.

Many of our losses are directly attributed to horrible coaching.  Just let your best players have the ball and see what happens.

Have you seen our roster? The guys handling the ball are almost all unproven players.
Rookie turnover machine Winston. 40 year old Hasselbeck. Brian friggin Hoyer. A one handed Fitzpatrick.....

I mean. Come on.

yes I've seen our roster.  Give it to your 2nd round pick instead of Cory Freaking Grant.  Give it to your 2nd round pick that marched you down the field instead of Gerhart 4 times in a row.

Let somebody return punts who... idk, has done it before in college successfully?

LOL! Our 2nd rd pick is an unproven rookie too. There is no way to prove that if he were put in the same situation he wouldn't have given you the same results.

Everyone is unproven until you give them a chance to do something. Draft position is no guarantee of success.

There is no one on this roster in the skill positions with enough of a resume to be considered a reliable player in a clutch situation and college experience guarantees nothing.

Chad Owens was the most prolific punt returner in college and couldn't return the ball in the NFL.
Will get bashed for this but I can't blame the coaching staff for this loss. Still a crazy young team and facing a lot of growing pains.

Wish they would run a hurry up offense more though. Bortles runs that two min drill so good

Quote:Gus is an idiot. Blake Bortles literally has to do everything to pull up the slack.

While I'm on this subject, can someone please tell me why we would go for an onside kick when we did? There was 2:17 left on the clock after we scored. We had one timeout. If Myers kicks it into the end zone, we would still have the two minute warning plus the timeout to stop the jets.

I was wondering this myself. The Jets were likely going to run it twice, maybe three times even if they were deep in their territory.

and after showing he can't do it in the NFL, the Jaguars cut him.

It's not about "guaranteeing" or "proving" anything.  The outcome could've been the same, but you should always give the ball to your best and most reliable players.

It's not just a toss-up.  It's not a guess.  Draft position DOES matter.  Although not always, the higher the player gets drafted, the better of an NFL career they have usually.  It's not a perfect correlation, but nevertheless it's there.

And last year it was Kirk Cousin, Charlie Whitehurst and Fitzpatrick.

We don't know our most reliable players, You put young players in a situation and see if they can step up. Some do and some don't. There is no crystal ball to determine this before you put them on the field.
Quote:I can't watch another year of a Gus coached Jags team. I can't.

Unfortunately there is a good chance that you will have to do just that.

I'm starting to feel like Gus will be given next year as a year to see if he can actually do something with Fowler and a new high draft pick added to the team.

That's as long as he doesn't lose the locker room before then, but it doesn't look like that will happen.

We'll see how the rest of this season plays out.

oh FFS, YES WE DO know our most reliable and best players.  That's the reason there is a depth chart.

at no point should your 4th string RB have a "package of plays" like Gus said, while you have TJ Yeldon playing.

you are making this as if it's a crapshoot.  Let's just start a random assortment of guys and "see what happens."  That's not how things go.

You must not know much about the NFL if you think teams only design plays for 1 RB. If you have a player with Grant's speed you design plays for that. It would be pretty stupid not to.

When you have a bunch of young unproven players you have to put on the field it most definitely is a crap shoot.

Sorry but one payer making a mistake doesn't magically make another player who has also never been in that situation the obvious more reliable choice. Too many people are trying to evaluate decisions using hindsight bias. They act like the knowledge that a certain player would make a mistake or something would go wrong was available at the time of the decision.
I still can't get over the package of plays. Time wasted at practice at best.

you don't know me and I don't know you, but this is not something that I've been saying in hindsight.  In fact, I said things like "there's a reason Grant went undrafted" ... call me crazy - but i'm gonna go with the guys that have been proven to be ballplayers.

Walters has been nothing but reliable.

I don't care if he's fast. You don't waste time on a package of plays for your 4th string RB. If he's worth playing, he shouldn't be 4th string. By virtue of him being on the field you're basically choosing not to use 3 better options. That's just insanity. And you CERTAINLY don't do it while backed up in your own zone... That's just common sense.

It seems like when critical drives/moments come up, Gus puts in guys like Grant and Marshall instead of the guys who are solid, reliable players.

When it matters most, Gus takes unnecessary risks with little chance of reward.

pretty much this.  couldn't have said it better.

Well then God help us all.
