Game* in their hands

Quote:Brian Walters is undrafted too...

Walters indeed deserves to be on the field playing. I'd like to see him get more looks on 3rd down plays. He's a chain-mover.
Walters... Hurns last year... Umm...

Walters is not a rookie

the guys that have proven they can play - keep feeding them the ball.  that includes walters, even though he's no rookie.  Also, walters is like 28 so he may have better nerves than the young rookies.

Basically I'm addressing this to Nick Marshall and Corey Grant.  The fact that those 2 made the team and actually were touching the ball is absolutely ridiculous.

One of the announcers (Green I think) said Walters was a 2nd year guy. Is that true? I thought he has been around longer.
How can one prove they can play, if not given the chance?

Mind you... I don't disagree on the specific players. Grant is terrible.

I do question this idea of "we had a package of plays for x 4th string player"...

there are places where they can prove themselves - like college for example.

nick marshall and corey grant did not prove themselves in college.  Nick Marshall didn't prove himself in pre-season either.  Somehow, he makes the team and now he's costing us games.

He is a liability in special teams as well as defense.  Why in the world is he on the team?

I don't think undrafted rookies handling kickoff/punt returns is that rare. Every time a mistake is make, people want to point to some rule that makes it so obvious something shouldn't have been done; that some rule has clearly been violated. I don't think it applies here.
Quote:Nick is a straight bum, doesn't do anything for this team, has no potential, and cost us the game with that muff. Cut him!

Dude muffs 1 punt all year and we get stuff like this. Because football players are supposed to be perfect. Obviously it sucked, but come on homie, mistakes do happen.

i've been saying this for weeks, just now decided to post about it.  I have an issue with this coaching staff putting the ball in the hands of our worst players.

Grant in Tampa, Gerhart in London, Marshall in every game he touches the ball.  They offer nothing but risk.

I don't know, Jacoby Jones was just released and we didn't sign him (i'm not sure if he cleared waivers or whatever)....
Marshall had some good punt returns but damn you can't muff that one.
Seriously.... Who would have been upset with a Walters Fair Catch right there?

No one.

oh shut up.  yes he muffed one punt.  he's also had other costly mistakes on special teams.  when the only reason you made the team is special teams, that is simply not good enough.  He hasn't done anything positive in his time here.

He's actually like a 4th year player.

Marshall was doing ok up to that play. Had a couple of decent returns. Has he fumbled as a pro prior to today? I don't think he has but I'm not 100%. If he hasn't what evidence is there that he absolutely should not be touching the ball? Just his undrafted rookie status?

Pretty sure that announcer said yeldon was a second year guy too

Sometimes, all it takes is one mistake. Especially because of when it happened.
I still can't understand why Walters wasn't back there when he has been returning for how long.

he shouldn't even be on this team.

he's a project CB.  Nothing more, nothing less.  He should be on the practice squad practicing his back pedal or whatever.  The fact that he is getting multiple touches a game is ridiculous.
