Already the Dolphins and Titans fired their head coaches since the season began. Then the Lions and Colts fired their offensive coordinator. More changes are coming starting with Chuck Pagano's head. What's next - honestly, with no teal glasses or kool-aid - between now and 2016?
My guess is Jim Caldwell's job is not as safe as he thinks because the Lions also fired the president and general manage - two people whose job descriptions include "hiring and firing coaches."
Another coach who may be unemployed in January Jim Tomsula. He inherited a quarterback who played well with an offense head coach, then had a bad season when the 49ers changed gears to a defensive coach. If the 49ers finally get smart and make the job more attractive by firing Tomsula, they will not look like the same 49ers next year.
The 49ers love Tomsula, I don't think he's going anywhere.
Browns coach is gone.
Caldwell is gone.
Pagano is gone.
Coughlin might be gone.
O'Brien might be gone.
Payton might be gone.
Garrett might be gone.
Arians might retire.
Could be a big year for changes.

Browns coach is gone. Nah, I think he gets one more year.
Caldwell is gone. Agreed.
Pagano is gone. Agreed.
Coughlin might be gone. Agreed, but having two Rings should get him another season. Just thinking out loud here.
O'Brien might be gone. Agreed, but only 'cause I would like to see that. O'Brien just seems like he runs a trashy ship. Send him back to College so he can yell at kids and intimidate them.
Payton might be gone. Disagree, I think he stays. He may need to retool a bit but he stays.
Garrett might be gone. Nah, Jerrah likes his Yes Men.
Arians might retire. Huh?! Arians finally got his team! Why would he want to leave?

You're right about Arians, I didn't realize he got a new deal this year. He's talked previously about retiring, and he's a cancer survivor so there's always the bucket list concerns, but it looks like he'll be around 2 more years at least.

I didn't realize that he was a cancer survivor either. I have always been a big fan of Arians though. I hope he finds success out there in the desert.
If Payton is gone, please let Gus be gone also.

Why do people still think if Sean Payton leaves, he will want to coach the Jaguars? Or that the Saints lack the power to make him stay in New Orleans? Totally ridiculous. Payton will either stay in New Orleans or choose a winning team.
I feel like the only way Coughlin is gone is if he retires.
O'Brien fired and hired to coach UM is my guess.

Everybody has known for years Coughlin will stay with the Giants until he retires.
Gus and Tom seemed to have striked up a friendship. Maybe if Tom retires (and Khan keeps Gus), the Jags can bring him on in some sort of mentor/helper for Gus.
What about Chip Kelly? Ain't like the Eagles are a powerhouse
Chip Kelly has been on the hot seat all season. He inherited a good team and made it a bad one.

Winning teams don't tend to dump their coaches, if he's going anywhere it'll be to a turd...which means if he goes anywhere it'll be to wherever pays him the most or wherever he believes has more pieces in place...we're a wreck, but we are in a better position than the other potential landing spots.

What if a good team's coach is hired by a bad team that fired theirs? The good team will need to hire a new coach, that's what. Sean Payton could jump at the opportunity to coach a winning team.

How would said bad team hire the good team's coach if they didn't get fired?
Quote:Everybody has known for years Coughlin will stay with the Giants until he retires.
Not hardly. Old Tom has been close to being fired for a few years now, reportedly. It's also been reported that if the Giants don't make the playoffs, again, he'll be asked to retire.
Giants ownership has a lot of class and won't publicly bad mouth Coughlin, but the Giants have not been winners of late.

I knew you would ask. Hypothetical example:
1. The Lions fire Jim Caldwell.
2. Mike McCarthy is targeted to replace Caldwell.
3. McCarthy accepts the job offer.
4. Sean Payton is offered the Packers job.
5. The Packers hire Payton to replace McCarthy.
Step 5 is the part I am talking about.

Good lord, you can't be this dense.
Isn't McCarthy UNDER CONTRACT with Green Bay?!?! Isn't it illegal to sign a man to two different contracts?
McCarthy leaves Green Bay for Detroit?
DETROIT?!

Maybe we should just hire Belichick to a contract. Can't believe no team thought of this before.
