One of my favorite prospects this year is Clemson safety Jayron Kearse 6'4 205.He is the nephew of Jevon 'The Freak' Kearse and cousins with former NFL CB Philip Buchanon. I've only watched a handful of games of him but this is what I make of him so far

Tackling

Great wrap up tackler who always seems to take the correct angle towards the ball carrier and is always in and around the ball.

Capable of punishing hits as seen in the Notre Dame game where he destroyed a receiver on a telegraphed pass.

Not a hitter in the mold of DD (not many are) but can definitely dish it out when the right situation arises.

Coverage

Seems to have a feel for coverage although its probably where he needs to improve on the most. His footwork can be very poor at times and can leave him out of position. Eats up receivers in press coverage.

Able to compete with receivers for jump balls due to his length and leaping ability.

Size

Looks like a wide receiver at the moment with long arms and legs.I'm pretty sure he has the frame to put on 15-20 more pounds without losing much closing speed or agility.Hard to get a gauge on his athleticism as at times he looks fluid and graceful whilst at others he looks ungainly and awkward moving about.Something to observe for me in his coming games.

I think he'll be the 4th safety off the board after Ramsey,Cash and Mills so probably mid 2nd round or possibly (hopefully) early 3rd round.

I'm just here to co-sign
DBs at that size always worry me. It's not that I think he can't perform at a high level but the odds are stacked against him. It'll be interesting to watch him go up against Jimbo's offense this weekend.

His footwork and movement are the only thing that worries me about him the rest of the game is there.

Yeah it will. Grabbed an interception and a PD or two against Maguire last year if I'm not mistaken.

And those are the things that taller / longer DBs usually have trouble with.
If he could put on some weight and become an Adrian Wilson type of player i would love it.

Yeah consider me out of the Kearse fan club,he has talent but is way too ungainly to play safety in the NFL.
He look slooooooow last night and he looked like he gave up on a few of bamas longer plays

His coverage was actually good but my god he looked stuck in the mud on Henrys long run TD, Drakes kickoff return TD and another long passing TD.
He's listed at 220 pounds everywhere I read. We'll find out at the combine.

Without seeing all-22 tape, it is impossible to evaluate him. I have watched a good bit of him on tv tape. He looks fast, overruns plays a lot, plays out of control, good tackling technique, great frame...ect. If his 40 time is what people expect (4.5), he'll sneak into the end of the first round. Not many strong safeties run like that.

I think he'll run 4.6 or 4.7..hes very well rounded, but his movement is awkward and he lacks thats smooth movement needed in the NFL.
