The Falcons were not undefeated when the Bucs beat them BTW.....

We still should have beat them and the Texans and the colts.

More like 'could have beat them'. I don't get how we deserve a 'should have won'. Based on what? We're improving but I don't think any game we play would be shocking that we lost.
we have lost to good teams and bad teams. we are a bad team. hopefully we get some wins.

Well based on these new findings, all observations and logical discussions must be invalidated. Please strike this thread from the record and let us never speak of it again.

lol, well, if you think about it, I'm sure you can find a few more threads that you could say this about.

We should probably hang up some "should have won" banners. Someone call the Colts banner guy and get it done.

Good post JIB.  Going into this season I was expecting to see much of what we saw back in 1996.  Start out slow, learn to play as a team and get better as the season rolled along.  I am not predicting the same result mind you (AFC Championship game) but there are similarities.

Deacon I could not agree with you more.  The close games are nerve wracking especially when you can point out a couple of plays that would have turned the L into a W.  I believe the difference between that magical 1996 season and now was the team was so new we were just happy to have a team.  Wins were just icing on the cake.  Now we expect more.

The Tacks have been disqualified from the NFL for making the Jaguars look good. Tongue

Quote:They quit on Philbin though, that is why he got fired. I am one of those who think Gus is not even an average coach, but at this point Kahn has clearly stated he isnt even thinking about a change, so saddle up for at least 2016. To the point of the OP... Our only wins were to a fired coach and a hobbled Bills team,  6 or 7 starters out. Also, any team that loses to Matt Hasselbeck the dinosaur QB should be and is considered bad. Now I do feel like we have a lot of talent on offense, and if we can find a pass rush we could be a solid team.
if Hasslebeck started every game, the clots would have a winning record.

maybe he wasn't counting us?

For as much as some people want to harp on Hasslebeck's age, you're not alone in your assessment either. If nothing else, he's always been pretty smart with the football and doesn't try to do too much. The offensive talent they have, minus the boneheaded mistakes from the QB position, would likely have netted the clots another 2 wins most likely.

The biggest difference between that 1996 team that was 4-7 at one time and went on to finish the season 9-7 (winning @Ravens, beating Cincinnatti, winning @ Oilers, beating Seahawks and beating Falcons) and this current team which is 2-5 and has a great opportunity in front of them is head coaching.

Jags fans didn't realize it at the time, but they actually had a great HC, in his preparations and on gameday.

Gus has a long way to go to get to Tom's level of HC.

If Gus could finish this season strong it can go a long way to him becoming a better HC.

Tom Coughlin has gone on to prove what a great HC he is by actually winning 2 Super Bowls in a very tough place to win, New York, and he won them with the 2nd best QB named Manning, who is not any kind of HOF QB.

Here is a hint...  check the date/time that I made the post.

Here is another hint...  why the asterisks?

I agree TC is and was a better coach than Gus however I was pointing more to how we the reaction of the fans in both cases.  Here is hoping Gus can grow in the job in the 2nd half of this season to match the talents growth.
We are a good team and by far should have a better record than we do. We should've beat car, mia, hou, ind,tb,buf. At the start of the season and during the team wasn't that good. We just can't finish games. We got lucky against Bills. From half the 2nd Quarter we could score. How do you give up 27-3 lead after we were dominating. Then we play soft. We better win the division games out to hope to make the playoffs.... I don't know why we tend to lose against beatable teams and until we destroy beatable teams we will continue to be at the bottom of the division. I am tired of having hope for this team. Should we beat the Jets? Will we beat the Jets? That is yet to be seen. Another team that is beatable.
