No, he couldn't handle being a backup. Thats exactly why hes not on the Texans anymore. He threw a fit as soon as he knew he wasn't gonna start. Hes not professional. Other people can't 'fix' that for him. He has to grow up and do it on his own or enjoy getting tossed around from job to job (and probably not nfl jobs either).

And enough emotional immaturity to completely overpower that talent making him about as useful as me on a roster.

Yeah, no.
Yeah I get what everyone is saying, no doubt. But maybe getting cut will give him the wake up call. He doesn't seem to be getting much interest, if he can realize this might be it, he still has talent. It would'nt be be our worst free agent signing. He was starting for Houston a few weeks ago. He could probably go to Buffalo and start there too.

Man, how many wake up calls does he need? He got one when he was in New England and they drafted Jimmy Garapolo. He got another one when he was traded to Houston. He got one when he found out Hoyer was the Starter. Then another one when he got benched earlier this season.

The dude has had enough wake up calls. Let someone else set his alarm for him.

How did this guy make it 3 years under Belichick?

The more I hear about Mallet, the more I doubt he'll even get another gig in this league. From what I'm hearing, what you're saying here only scratches the surface. He's been fined numerous times for being late, and this latest incident was the last straw. He showed up late yet again for practice so they sent him home. When he finally did return, he realized he missed the flight. Gil Brandt said he knows Mallett well, and it comes down to him thinking the rules only apply to the other 52 players on the roster.

He knew his role in NE, but I think he truly felt he was better than Hoyer.

I watched big portions of both the Carolina and Atlanta games that RM played. The announcers were constantly mentioning accuracy issues throughout both if those games. As I watched, I personally thought he was the most inaccurate QB I have ever seen. Seriously,, I had never seen a more inaccurate passer, and I've watched the NFL a very long time.

I thought maybe that my opinion was just a little wrong. But then, I saw the NFLN highlighting RM in the Atlanta game. They were blasting his accuracy,, analyzing a great number of his passes that day. Boy,, it wasn't just my opinion. His accuracy was down right PATHETIC. PATHETIC.

I remember when he came in the game week 1 vs the Chiefs (after tinhorns had already been down fairly big). Texans actually had a slim chance for a comeback. But, on a fourth down (maybe it was a 3rd down before a FG idk),, Mallett had the TE WIDE OPEN for a good gain that would've extended the drive. He missed that pass so badly,, the announcer couldn't help but blame RM for not putting it on the TE.

This isn't hyperbole. I believe he is absolutely the most inaccurate passer I have ever watched.

(That's not even taking into account all of his "headcase" issues).
He's just misunderstood.

Worse than Tebow?

I watched a little bit of his playing time this year, and can't say he's as bad as JaMarcus, Mirer, or Shuler.  Hell, I think he might even be a bit better than Gabbert.

I thought it was bad while watching. Then I watched the "highlights" NFLN was dedicating to the inaccurate throws vs Atlanta (and there were alot). After that,, yup. He is way worse than those guys accuracy-wise. Just my eyeball opinion though.
I could care less if the guy can dial a telephone with a football from 40 yards out.

He can't be trusted to show up on time! If you can't do the little things right, how can you do the big things?
He just needs to be 'coached up'.
What happened to this jughead after getting cut? Did he blackball himself from the NFL?
