Fired for clapping?

I dun herd it ull!

You're right!!!!  He should have gotten up in Bortles face and screamed at him like a lunatic!!!!  That would have helped inmmensely and maybe we would have won!!

...oh wait.
Gus is a great coach.  He SURVIVED those first 2 years and kept smiling though he was given probably the worst "opportunity" of any coach in NFL history, the opportunity to get his butt handed to him for 2-3 years because the talent level was minimal and the GM was releasing some of the better veterans.  Nuke it down to the concrete slab and start over.

Everybody likes to trot out Gus's overall record, but nobody could have won many games with those rosters.  Gus took the hit to his ego and his career, knowing the team would take their lumps and it would be ugly at times.  Give the guy a break.  The players play hard for him.  They may not all be on the same page yet, and the talent at several positions is still sorely lacking (DE, S, OL, PK) but the level of play this season is worlds better than the previous 2.  Gus built that.  Gus owns that locker room.

This team actually has a chance for the playoffs and all everybody wants to do is blow it up and start over?  I don't get it.  Gus is still smiling, why aren't you?

You know I'm on the fire Bradley ASAP band-wagon...

But would you rather have seen this pathetic display??

I was absolutely infuriated and had to refrain myself from posting for 20 minutes in fear of being banned after that pick 6....

And seeing Gus' face and his clapping right after the pick 6 almost made my brain explode from rage.  But to be honest, the best thing to do after that pick 6 would be to stay positive and not implode on the sideline.

Well... yes, lol.

A great coach? Now I've heard it all.

Firing the coach is not blowing it up and starting over. Falcons, Fins, Chiefs a couple years ago.......

And actually, yes, a better coach probably would have beaten the Colts w/o Luck, Bucs and Texans.

Nobody wants to blow it up and start over. They just want a new coach.

OK...  But that would have been the wrong thing to do.  LOL!  Again, I'm for firing Bradley, he's terrible.  But you have to stay positive as the head coach when all heck is breaking loose...  That's kinda motivational coaching 101...

Both coaches walked or are walking the green mile. A little comedy along the way never hurt, lol.

I don't know why some folks ignore this simple fact...  But it's true.  A real coach has us winning those 3 games...  I keep saying this, and people keep ignoring it.  So I will continue to say it, untill it's addressed by anyone that is defending Bradley.  LOL

Fair enough!

I like using the Walking Dead metaphor...  Gus is not a zombie yet, but it's just a matter of time until he's in the same boat as Mularkey
Quote:How so? What did Gus do wrong this time?

For me the Gerhart, Alualu and throwing to the 4th TE (why do I keep forgetting his name) in back to back to back offensive series is inexcusable.  Big moments and 5 of them had our best RB TJ Yeldon on the bench.  It is inexcusable.

No but I wouldn't be clapping like the pick 6 is the best thing to happen for this offense.

He should be disappointed and is ready to talk to Bortles so that he is focused on the next drive, not stand there clapping and being happy like it's acceptable.

When I saw that, I was like, "No wonder we just lost a 24 point lead to the 4 turnover Bills".

It's like Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. But that's the beauty of Gus' philosophy. You can punch him in the mouth but he'll keep smiling. A cool head wins the day. You can't retaliate if you are moping, or if you are reeling. You have to try and keep an even keel. Gus does that through positivity. It's a philosophy. Just one way to do it. We will see how it works down here in Jax over the course of the season. It's not been ideal so far, but there's plenty of football left and we have an ascending QB. I think Gus needs 6 wins to keep his job personally and I hope he does it. I'm rooting for him.

6 wins is fair but I really am hoping for 7 since that would be enough to win the division.

And I understand your point about Gus's coaching style and how it helps the team. I just wish he shows higher expectations from his players. From what I see, he is a little too carefree.

And with the remaining games on the schedule, that is honestly quite possible. The next game against the Jets will test this group for sure.
Quote:Some boxes were checked.  Yay!  Sick

I like to check boxes whenever I can.
Quote:What bothers me most about Gus Bradley was demonstrated in his presser right after the game. He was acting as if he had just won the Super Bowl. GREAT coaches "expect" to win...........EVERY GAME. Gus acted "surprised" that he found himself in the winners circle today. Look, I know his personality is out there from a showing his emotions standpoint and a Bill Parcells or Belichik he is not, but this should be just another game to him. Swinging from the chandeliers with jubilation is a sign to me at least...........Gus is a guy that does NOT demand victory every single game. Gus does NOT have that MJ mentality of HATING TO LOSE more than they love to win. That's what drives the great ones..............THEY SIMPLY WILL NOT TOLERATE LOSING. They "expect" to win.

Gus does NOT have that mental make up. For that reason alone, regardless of how the Jags finish up............he will not take them to the next level..........which should be nothing less than a division title to start and Super Bowl to finish.

Wait so when he was asked if he breathed a sigh of relief and he said "No" this is what you got from it?
Quote:You know it is bad when he made so many blunders that I actually forgot about this one.

Where is that grasping for straws gif?

I'm sorry, but this is one of the dumbest statements I have ever seen in this board, and I've seen plenty.

I mean, seriously. Do you really think that Gus is applauding Blake's decision making? Do you really think he's admiring the defensive play?

Good lord. Some of you guys are so far deep into your agenda that you are just grasping at straws.
