Scobee was put into a funk in Pittsburgh. We know he can do it. Even if he only makes half of his kicks I'd feel more confident with him than Myers at this point.

I know you all loved the guy, but it's time to move on. It's not that he got into a funk or didn't fit the system. Kicking is kicking, he lost "it" and it's time to let it go and move on. Remember the good, but these types of posts are pure wishful homersim.

As for myers. I wouldnt miss him. He has leg talent, but it's really not special enough that I'd need to keep around. He's costing the team games or at least good opportunities to get those little points or even be more trustworthy when Bortles drives the team down the field. I think a better kicker would encourage some more conservative play for Bortles in these early development years. I don't need home runs all the time, I need guys on base.
Quote:I would spend a later round pick for Roberto Aguayo. I would spend that 6th rounder that we got for Scobee on him. He's good.

Aguayo will be long gone by the 6th. Best kicker to come out in awhile.
Dave Caldwell could always draft him in the 3rd round as a way of saying goodbye...

If Aguayo is as automatic as a pro as he is in college, he might even be worth a 3rd rounder unlike our slightly above average 3rd round punter.
Let the rookie battle through. It's not like we're gonna miss the playoffs because of him. He may need a little more time. He might reward the jags with being a good kicker if you stick with him a bit more.
Quote:If you were at the game like I was then it wasn't hard to notice the 20 mile wind gusts constantly blowing thru the stadium. I really don't care for Myers but I'm not going to rag on him for struggling kicking on very windy day.

Maybe those 3 misses against the colts in their dome were also due to 20 mph winds.

The Texans kicker didn't have the same problem btw, you may have noticed that "if you were at the game like I was."

Clown.

Such nonsense. We would've have at least 1 extra win if it wasn't for him. And although that's only 2-4, that's still "in the hunt" at least in our division.

He IS a direct reason why we are losing. He's not the only reason, but he definitely has played a huge part in our record.

We couldn't score against a mediocre at best defense and you want to hang that loss on a rookie kicker? Is it his fault that the coaches didn't have the guts to call a decent play on 3rd and 11 to set him up for a 50+ field goal attempt on the road. Oh what a big favor they did him. Our qb is the next tom Brady but he can't throw a touch pass to save his life. That loss was not on myers. That loss was on the coaches for not being prepared to beat a vulnerable clots team without its staring qb and an inaccurate bortles. Lol at scoring 13 points and then blaming the kicker for the loss.
Myers = spud

He was one of the reasons we lost. I'm sorry that your version of the reality is different than anyone else's.

I have been keeping an open mind about all your takes on Blake, and I think you make some valid points, that said you can't crucify Bortles and play soft kitty for the kicker
Cut.

This team needs to start changing its mentality. Letting mistakes go as "learning opportunities" needs to stop. Cut him. Sign another kicker. Steelers signed and cut a bunch and now locked in on Boswell who killed it in Pittsburgh yesterday.

Quote:What's it gonna matter? You are trying to win games. He is a liability. He's no good, what's the point of keeping him?

He also missed a BUNCH of practice kicks today (kicking into the north endzone)

At this point it's time to tank for better draft position, and do it right so you don't miss the chance to draft a Luck or trade pics for Mariota

Well, there's not a Luck, we already screwed that chance up.  But yea, agreed except we don't need Mariota.  Bortles is still getting there.

Cut him.  He was inconsistent in college also.  He did well in the confines of an indoor AFL arena.  Unfortunately, the NFL is played outdoors.

HE COULDN'T EVEN KICK WELL IN THE DOME AT INDY!
Give him a Roberto Aguayo jersey as a parting gift.

I just think that out of all people that could use more time it's this kid. Because there is nothing else to lose. We already got an extra pick out of the kicker situation. But whatever I'm not gonna fret over a kicker. However it is bush league blame the clots loss all on Myers. That offense was crap and then we give a kid some long field goal attempts to win. Sorry I cant kill him for that. If they were 35 traders I'd be right there banging on that drum.
