Can you imagine a Group of Five team being selected for the college football playoffs? According to SI.com, it can happen because the AAC has three undefeated teams and one of them just beat Ole Miss. The Rebels reportedly can help Memphis by winning all remaining regular season games because that would make the Tigers look better. It is obviously a long shot, but there are a few ranked teams in the AAC, so it could be hard to pick Iowa over Houston or Memphis. Iowa may have no ranked opponents before the BTCG (Northwestern now has two blowout losses) when all is said and done.
Of course, this is not what I want to happen. It would mean leaving out a deserving Power 5 conference team. I don't want Iowa to get in either, obviously. But if Houston or Memphis deserves it should the CFPC say sorry, no AAC teams allowed? I don't think so. Last year Central Florida won the Fiesta Bowl. The AAC is not a bad conference. (Remember it is partly made up of Big East teams.) What do you think?
