There's a trend that I believe Bobby Bowden described years ago about the progression of building a team. Lose big, lose small, win small, win big. The team is losing by a smaller margin this year than last. Eventually those close losses will become close wins.
Eye test says we are not as bad as last year. Is that really that good though? We just lost to a team that was 2-14 last year with a QB that loves to turn the ball over. One week ago we lost to a 40 year old backup QB and couldn't score a 2nd half point against a defense that is horrible. I'm sick of our moral victories that we look better than last year. It's not good enough anymore. When does it matter that we are tied for last in a completely horrible division in a year when mediocrity would make us a viable contender.
I personally don't really care what the point differential is or what the stats look like.
I know how the team looks and its not much different from the last two years. They look sloppy. Gus isn't a good head coach.
Halftime adjustments are overrated.
Yeah, I said it!
Funny the people that clearly see progress and the dunderheads that can't see an inch of it.
ITT: People that are pessimistic, and people that are optimistic.

How can you watch the games and say that? Yeah maybe what you said about Gus is right but this team looks a ton better on offense. Defense is pretty much the same but I think if we are able to increase our pass rush next year we will be good enough next year and have an explosive offense. I think our offense actually looks like an nfl offense even if we weren't scoring points some of the earlier games. Last 2 years this was not remotely the case.

The Bucs game and the Pats game was horrific defensively. I'll give you that. On the other hand, the D played real good against the Panthers, Phins, & Colts (while our Offense stalled in the 2nd half of each of those games)

Shut up you heard that on 1010xl. Im only mad because you beat me to the post
It's not hard to see that the team is much better than last year.
It's also not hard to see that the coaching has left alot to be desired based on the games we've played and how we've performed.
What apparently is hard is for people to understand that the talent being better and the coaching still being poor are not events that must be mutually exclusive.
You can have both. As a matter of fact, we are seeing both. We are seeing Dave Caldwell bring in better talent. We are then seeing a coach that is not able to get the most out of the talent in order to win. It's not that hard to figure out, in my opinion.

Apparently so are wins at this time.
Hopefully that will change in the near future, we'll see.
I always thought we were a 5-11 or 6-10 team this year. Mainly due to injuries. They are getting better but they are not competitive enough yet and not enough depth in the roster especially with injuries. We have or had potential to be 8-8 or 9-7. Next year we will have 2 1st round picks with Fowler and whoever we draft. I truly think if we keep improving this season and finish strong it will carry over into next season and we will be competitive in the AFC South.

Now that is a post that makes sense.
It explains why the team is better stat-wise but not better record wise.
Gus, from the beginning, has pretty much been preaching "get better every day man" instead of teaching them how to win in the NFL.
It's like he thinks if he just teaches and preaches about 'getting better everyday" then they will eventually just start winning games.

Our defense has given up over 300 yards in every game except the Panthers game.
That's the only game I'd dare say they played well enough to win.

I thought that too before the season started. But five or six wins isn't good enough based on how the season has opened up, specifically within our division.
You have to be open minded enough to reevaluate your preconceptions once the season starts. Based on how the season and our division is developing, it's time to see that a competent coaching staff would have us fighting for a division title this year.

Well then the Jags are halfway there after 2 1/4 seasons. How much longer until the win small starts?
I'm not even going to worry about the win big yet.

There were 2 win smalls our coaches failed to deliver the last 2 weeks...
Just sayin... we got the talent to be winning right now.
The Jaguars are a very young team, and need time to develop. Think about QB Blake Bortles and the improvement we have already seen simply in his 2nd year, as he continues to progress with the right talent surrounding him the Offense has the potential to be elite in another year or two. Why not give that same time to coaches? I mean OC Olson or OL Marrone have already proven to correct problems taking the worst Oline and making them average & the worst offense and making them average if they are given another year or two it could be in the top. If you'll give a player time to develop certainly you should give the same time to a coach?
I get it HC Gus Bradley had three years and continues to be a .250% winning coach so I can understand the reasoning behind not wanting him at the helm again next year, but certainlly he should finish this year out.
Maybe, just maybe he can turn things around... I know I too am not optimistic after losing to the BUCS of all teams... but lets see how this Texans game goes now that he has Marks & Thomas back in the mix. and maybe poz too.
Ok... So, the coaching is good enough to have gotten us to where we are.... Marked improvement over last year's performance, but the coaches suck. Gotcha.......

Ok... so the term mutually exclusive is too difficult for some to grasp. Walking and chewing gum is an impossibility for some... gotcha..........

Coaches groups them all together... where you might have improvement in the offense with Marrone helping the OLine & Olson helping Bortles etc, but the Defense still stinks... so you look at the Defensive side which is all done by HC Gus Bradley & his hand picked staff.. and have to wonder why after three years are they still the leagues worst (every year under him) at getting INTs?
He claims they are geared to stop the run and the Bucs ran over 100 yards in the first half..
so to comment on the above the improvement has been seen on offense in this year because of Marrone & Olson but even it isnt a huge improvement as the teams offense I think is only ranked 19th.
perspective...

I think a lot of people have figured this out actually, which is why they want Bradley gone. It really is obvious to see the improvements on the field, but its also obvious that they continue to shoot themselves in the foot week in and week out.
