Quote:He's not the best corner prospect, that's why you don't take him that high if you're drafting for that position. You take Hargreaves, Fuller, or Desmond King over him, but I'd draft him instantly for the FS position.
bingo
Quote:I see your point.
But this is why he'd probably be the best choice if still available.
OL and LEO in FA, then Ramsey or BAP when draft time comes might be the best way the cards fall.
Edit: Is there a way to delete a post? Read this wrong.
Let's hope QBs and LTs go first...? Though, I suppose Joeckel could be replaced
I'll be happy with Bosa or Rams.. They both fill a need on defense..
Disclaimer I go to FSU so I may be a bit biased.
That being said, Ramsey is the stud we've been wanting for our FS position for a long time. he's athletic, has great size and ball skills, and is good against the run. If he's there we should take him.

I understand that. I'm not saying he's the best corner prospect. I think he'll be far better at safety. I was just making a point about how some evaluate corners. One bad game or if the guy gets beat once and all of a sudden he's overrated as a prospect.

Is there any concern from the Ramsey fans that he won't actually make it to our pick? Everyone seems to be predicting that he will destroy the combine especially in the 40, and long jump (supposedly Olympic-ish). Not to mention he killed his SPARQ in high school (40.3 vertical jump).
Don't forget. If they want someone, they will move up to get him. Don't focus so much on where we pick.
Ramsey doesn't have the 'elite' speed that you may want because he's a long jumper he's not a sprinter,...longer strides. but as a FS prospect I believe he's off the charts.

He ran like a 4.4

Lol Carl Lewis was a long jumper too. Similar problem, not elite speed.
After his combine performance he most likely won't be there at #5, but Joey Bosa will probably be there...
Bosa's hometown is Florida so maybe he's the better fit?

Florida is not a town, soooooooooooooooo....

I dunno. After living there 15 years, it kinda is one big town.
With two or three really big occupied territories that are unlike the rest.

I left Jacksonville for the navy (don't judge me) when I was 18. Kind've a big town is the perfect way to describe it. I'm like "yea, it's a great town and there's plenty to do, you just have to drive 20 minutes to get there no matter what."
I'll say this, the bar situation in the immediate area surrounding the stadium absolutely needs to change. I remember flying home for a game against the bears only to be ridiculed about the horrible lack of bars (Nevermind decent venues) immediately surrounding the stadium. I've been to 4 Jags away games, and we are extremely far behind in terms of things to do around the stadium. It's not even a conversation at this point.
Edit: I apologize if I derailed the thread. Jalen Ramsey and Joey bosa, etc

Good point, you know what i had meant though...
Sources with multiple teams have said they have given Ramsey a second-round grade. Another team picking early said they have Ramsey in the top 10 of their board. The sources who rate him as a high first-rounder say he is a smart kid and an alpha dog from a team of alpha personalities. They like his strength, physical play, solid ball skills, and how he competes and tracks the ball well, but say he has bad hands. They think he can be special as a corner or free safety.
The teams that have a second-round grade have a similar view of Ramsey. Those general managers and scouts have told me that Ramsey is a press-man corner to play the Seattle Seahawks' style of corner and be a Richard Sherman-type defender. Their teams play off man, zone and press man, and they feel Ramsey struggles to play anything but press man. He is good against a big receiver as he has the size and strength to battle them. However, smaller fast route-runners get separation from him and get vertical against him downfield. As one top scout said, "Ramsey will do well against a big, physical receiver like Brandon Marshall, but T.Y. Hilton would tear him up."
