Full Version: After Sunday's loss to the Bengals, would you still call the Seahawks a "great" defense?

Would you? understandably, the Seahawks have many very good play makers in Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Michael Bennett, Bobby Wagner, Malcolm Smith, and Cliff Avril, to name a few, but it seems like they just can't defend leads when it matters most. Case in point, Sunday against Cincinnati. You're up 24-7 in the 4th quarter, you've got the LOB, and you can't defend a 17 point lead against Andy Dalton? what's going on with Seattle's D right now?

I'm not impressed with the Seattle type defense that gus started.

Seems like it was innovative but looks like offenses have adapted and it just a fad.

Simple straight forward defense with good playerd keep your team in games. Force turnovers and be smart.
The problem with recent NFL as opposed to the past is the difference that Free Agency has made along with player hold outs... without Kam Chancellor the team's Defense struggled greatly he came back without the offseason, preseason, etc

and was able to make a big difference but I think the lack of training showed off a bit in coverage against the Bengals...

It's a team sport too you cant put it all on one player, but the Defense scheme does rely heavy on the SS play of Kam which isnt a problem if you have a healthy Kam whom has his mind in the game but when he's so focused on money...

why is he so focused on money, partly because the team has payed out heavily especially on Defense....

They need to have more incentive contracts instead of straight pay since the players are so money motivated...

Wow. Seattle's LOB let's them down again in the clutch. Doubts beginning to arise?

Like you said it looks like the league has found the niches in the Seattle system. Could also explain why every QB is burning us right now too.
Stick a fork in the Seahawks.  They had their run and it is downhill now.

They're confidence/cockiness is definitely shot right now. They still have loads of talent but it just goes to show that you can't stay in one defense forever. Offenses have made changes to attack their weaknesses and they just keep running the same thing.

They need to add a few wrinkles into their scheme to show something different occasionally.

If you had told me the Jaguars would have 1 win less then the Seahawks, 6 games into the season, I would have been so happy I would not have been able to believe it.

And here we are 6 games into the season with 1 less win the the Seahawks and I still don't believe it.
No.
I'd venture to say it may be even more of a testament to just how good Quinn really is. You have seen multiple communication breakdowns in the Seattle secondary and that rarely ever happened before. If we do fire Gus, I wouldn't be shocked to see him back in Seattle next season.

Send them Gus back.

Gus for Irvin. DEAL !!!
