Guys like A.P. and JPP feel, it would tarnish their legacy ill, to head to J-Ville. Hate to say it but thats the way it. Is.
Coughlin signs ap and jamal Charles, and draft Leonard fournette. The 3 headed monster unstoppable running attack is formed. Jags dont even need a franchise qb, a avg weak arm game manager will suffice.
I believe he ends up as a Giant or a Raider.
We got stacks of cash and cap space, and JPP and Berry are getting the franchise tags.
This isn't Madden, there aren't a bunch of 24-27 year old beasts that are hitting the open market. Everyone has issues.
An AP, Ivory, Yeldon backfield behind some FA offensive linemen could be dangerous and win some games. We need to take the pressure off Bortles so he isn't throwing the ball 40 times a game.

Stacks of cash could potentially lure AP here, but I strongly believe that he would rather take a reasonable "pay cut" to play for a current contender.

why in the world would we spend money on a 32 year old running back coming off an injury riddled season right before a draft with the most depth at running back weve seen in years. Just because we have money doesnt mean spend it irrationally.

Because we might think he has something left to contribute as part of a tandem. He's still Adrian frickin Peterson. Is he not an instant upgrade to everyone in our backfield?
Just because you don't agree with it does not make it irrational. We need to take the pressure off Bortles, AP wouldn't be that expensive, and if the AP of 2007-2015 is still in there, even on fewer carries, he would be worth a look.
Were you also in the crowd that wrote him off after the knee injuries in college? Wrote him off after the 2011 knee injury? Wrote em off when he turned 30? Eventually father time is always right, but if you are lumping Peterson in with all the running backs we have seen that turned to mush after 30, you may end up proven wrong on him once again. If there is ONE running back that you would take a chance on being great after 30, wouldn't it be him? A short term deal?
You can build a case against any player in the league and say we are throwing our money away, and we can sit on 80 million of cap space and feel safe that we dodged another bullet, and keep wondering why our 80 million dollar team keeps losing to 155 million dollar teams and keep telling ourselves that we are rebuilding for a playoff run in 3-4 years, or we can try for a couple years.
I doubt we will land him though. I think he wants to play for a contender and contenders see value in him instead of hoarding their cap space.
Am I the only one who is feeling like a fan of one of those perennial basement dwelling MLB teams that won't spend a dime on the roster outside of some 2nd tier talent?
I'd rather have a rookie RB.

Hey if it means we don't take an RB at 4 then please spend irrational money on AD.

Honestly, who knows. Last we saw of him not really.

37 attempts all last year while banged up is not really seeing him.
He is 1 year removed from 1500 yards.

I dont believe its impossible that he can be productive again, but i also don't believe hes worth the risk for two years max of whatever it is that he has left which could be anything. If were going to put such a premium on fixing our run game then we shouldnt be gambling it on a 32 year old with an injury history, I dont care who he is or what hes done before.
If you want to make this about Blake, then we should be taking the option most likely to succeed. If we need Blake to be successful and the run game is a huge part of that why take an unnecessary risk? That just doesnt make any sense.
And on top of that, theres a draft two months away thats the deepest at RB its been in the last decade. Why would we spend money on the least valued position on the field on a 32 year old when we could just draft a young running back and have him for cheap.
No you cant build a case against any player in the league, not reasonable ones. This idea that were just sitting on money and not using it is kind of flawed. We gutted our entire roster have been rebuilding it for the last 4 years. I dont know where you think our money is going to go when we dont have franchise players coming up to resign for a little while longer. Were not going to use that money all on FAs, thats just not how building teams works. And theres 31 other teams in the league, if you think were just gonna be snatching up the top guys at every position that's inaccurate as well.
Just cause we have money doesnt mean we need to spend it. Were not overly frugal its just pretty difficult to spend vast amounts of money unless youre re-signing your own talent and the little talent we have is still on rookie contracts.
Theres just really no case to be made that AP deserves a look from us. No matter how much of a freak AP is, all signs point to him not being who he was. Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? No. Should we put the run game that is apparently essential to our franchise quarterback in the hands of a guy who might not actually be able to get it done? No. If the run game is that important theres no reason to even gamble that when theres plenty of other safer options out there.

So what you're saying is that the run game is important but is not worth spending money on. The draft is full of guys ready to come in, just like Yeldon has. Peterson had a torn meniscus last year, that isn't like another ACL. He is 37 carries removed from 1500 yards and a rushing title.
Everything I am reading points to him not being that expensive given the things you are talking about. What is the risk exactly on a 2 year deal?
Is there a player that you are not negative about bringing in then? Is there anything you are not negative on in general?

I didnt say the run game isnt worth spending money on. I said Adrian Peterson isnt worth spending money on.
Latavius Murray instead please.

Actually, yeah, I would be down with that.
