Quote:It's 5 games into his career so he's clearly a bust. Good call man.

Backs are one of the only positions that can come in and make almost an immediate impact. Yeldon was a very high 2nd round pick (36). That's 4 picks from the last 1st round pick.

Yeldon isn't good.

Yeah, McCoy compared him to LeVeon Bell for no reason. Who, btw, averaged 3.5 yards as a rookie.

And on top of that, you can't tell me a running back can come in make an immediate impact if the run blocking is this poor.

The blocking was worst last year. Denard put up more yardage. Explain.
Ya'll do know he got a groin injury too in the TB game.

Ok! 2014!

Through games 1-5 Drob rushed for no higher than 33 yards in a single game.

He had 2 100 yard games mid season, which Yeldon has already had one in the first 5 games. From there he steadily declined from 90 yards, 60 yards, 25 yards, 44 yards to 30 yards.

Was Denard a starter games 1-5? I distinctly remember Slowby Bellcow being the starter.

I'm just giving you all the stats. Take them as you wish and do with them what you will.
Why are we arguing about this. Can they not both be good runners. They are different style runners and I think they will do well together. I think yeldon will improve by the end of the year and the use of denards explosiveness will be critical as well. Yeldon is just more of a 3 down back whereas denard is a good back to give 10 touches a game to and maybe he will break one. Denard was good for a stretch last year but he wore down over the large amount of touches.

Because the OP claims Yeldon will be a star despite Yeldon looking amazingly average every game.
I think most people agree that yeldon will be the main back of our team of the future. Denard will never take over the job unless there is an injury. Denard will never be able to carry the load week in week out. That being said denard is still an important part of the offense because of his speed and vision. I think we will see a much better yeldon than we see now. He might never be a pro bowler but he will be a solid player. Lots of running backs were just average their first year and then had great second years. We will see.
Quote:I know his stats aren't showing it but dude can make you look stupid!

When the holes start opening up, he is going to put up huge numbers.

If the Jaguars dont injure him like the rest of the players...
I like yeldon but the comparisons to bell are way overblown. Visually, the backfield dancing and patience is similar to bell, but bell has the wiggle in tight holes, the excellent hips to quickly accelerate out of the hole and the speed to break runs.

I like TJ and think he's got potential to be a productive back but he's not Bell.
Wouldn't call him a star just yet, but I'll say he's pretty darn good.
He is ranked #101 with a 3.6 avg per run attempt (#14 among rookies) of course you could take four of those rookies out of it due to limited attempts...  he's 3rd in yards among rookie RBs.

He's on the path to be a HoF player.
After Bortles blew up with 300 yards and 4 tds, id expect Yeldons YPC to go up.

Bc the first thing I do to evaluate talent is go to google and type in their name and look at their stats.

I dont watch the games, I just look at stats.
