Quote:Broncos and Vikings are front runners for Lang it seemsUnfortunately, why wouldn't they in this cap space climate...especially the older ones like Lang. The top players don't have to choose between winning and huge contracts this year with perceived contenders like the Titans, Pats, Colts, Bucs, Raiders, Broncos, Bengals, Packers, Vikings, and Panthers all having at least 30 mil in cap space and many of them having 50+ mil. FA is going to be a bloodbath this year.

From rotoworld:
According to Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline, free agent RG Kevin Zeitler is expected to sign a deal "close to $10 million per year, if not slightly over that amount."
Steelers RG David DeCastro and Bears RG Kyle Long both make $10 million per year as the league's two highest-paid right guards. With the inflation of the salary cap and Zeitler already one of the best guards in the game, he could easily top $10 million per year. Pauline hears the Bengals aren't prepared to go that high for Zeitler. Zeitler is arguably the top offensive lineman available.
Let's go get him! :-Signed, Us and all other 20+ teams with 30+ mil in cap space! Fire up your engines...
I used to believe that Cinci wasn't going to let their valued lineman leave via free agency but Mike Brown's frugality is something I may have overlooked.
Good call KY.

The Packers are obviously another one. That only leaves like 18 teams with 30+ mil cap space, a majority of them will want a young elite IOL.
Good call KY.

Warford isn't getting talked about a lot be he's young, nasty and would definitely boost the run

He's my favorite of the guys that aren't being super hyped, although he has gotten a fair share. I know people say they think he could be a good guard too, but we know Linder can be top shelf at both spots whereas Tretter has only proven to be a top shelf C.

I would make Zeitler the highest paid OG in the league, if that's what it takes. It's not just that Cincinnati doesn't value OG's. There are rumblings here (outside Cincinnati) that Zeitler doesn't want to be here and has no intention of re-signing. Also, the Bengals are thought to be committed to re-signing OT Andrew Whitworth. Whitworth is old, but he's still a very good LT and the Bengals totally whiffed when they drafted Jake Fisher and Cedric Ogbuehi. Those two guys were like turnstiles last year and the team needs to upgrade the Center position as well since Russell Bodine didn't fare much better. They have nothing at OT behind Whitworth and know it.

The Bengals have more than enough money to sign Zeitler, Whitworth, and Kilpatrick if they wanted to, and of course the players wanted to stay. They just don't believe in paying guards top dollar.

How do you know they all want to stay? Have you talked with them? I know Whitworth does, he has said he loves Cincinnati. I have no idea what Kirkpatrick is thinking, but more than one local media outlet has indicated that Zeitler wants to play elsewhere. As far as Cincinnati not valuing OG's, that's true, but if a guy doesn't want to play somewhere, there is no amount of money that can get him to stay.

Then what did you mean by the bolded part? It sounds like you are saying, you know they want to stay.

Just a reminder, in last year's free agency, G Kelechi Osmele sign a 5 year $58.5m deal ($11.7m per year average). I would imagine Zeitler will receive this amount, at minimum, in this year's "packed with cap" free agency period.

Agreed. I believe it will take about $12.3 million per year to sign him. I'm fine with that.

I feel like the Jags will miss out on the FA and will end up with either Lamp or Finney.

Which is a better situation to be in, imo.
Also, as for all these teams with all this money, I'm assuming most of the good ones are probably going to need a chunk of change to resign current and future players of their own? You know, the players that make them a good team to begin with?
Don't care either way. I've grown the despise everything about free agency except the fanfare. The bust rate has gotta be astronomical. 75 percent maybe?

Generally agree with what you are saying here but unfortunately you can't fix every hole with the draft, even with free agency you can't patch everything. So in this situation i would be totally cool with throwing the bank at zeitler. he plays a position that warrants paying for and his talent level matches. he will get overpaid, but the logic is there.

Dave was laughing after replying to those questions and clearly wasn't going to divulge his needs.
He then said "should we just keep going down the list?"
Below is a gif of his actual response to give you an indication of the "seriousness."
