I think it's an important week to play well. Is it a make or break week? No. At worst, we are 2-3 after five weeks, IMO. A lot of us would have taken that before the season started.

Yeah especially after the titans were leading the colts for a bulk of that game. Yeah Titans were at home but there is no excuse. We need to compete in this game and if we don't I'm starting the FireGusBradley website!

Whatever.

Depends on how the rest of season goes. Probably not going to happen but what if ended season 7-8-1(Panthers last year division winner) and way division is looking in playoff hunt at end of season

At worst?
what if we win 6 ?

need new poll

then I vote corn

Even now with the Colts showing signs of not being their ultra-dominant selves, by far the majority of picks in the picks thread are for the Colts. Before the season started most all of us had this game as a loss. It's a huge game no doubt, but not a must win nor a game that should decide Gus' fate. I'd love to see the Jaguars take early command of their division with a win this week, and I think they will, but let's keep everything in perspective. A loss this week will make next week the biggest game ever but otherwise little will change.

What makes this game so big is that a win will change things at least in our own fans minds. The same could have been said about a win last week. Of course the rest of the NFL will just say the Colts are still struggling, but Duval will come alive and faith in Gus and the direction of the franchise will be renewed. I want this one real bad, but it's still just a game.

Six wins and I feel the poll would have a drastically different result. That is, however, the bare minimum of what it will take to satisfy fans. Five wins is just way too much same o, same o. Seven wins and Duval might throw a parade.

I can only imagine the excitement if the Jaguars were to ink 9 wins and the division title even if they lose the wild card game.

I'll be happy if we aren't down 40 points in the 3rd again....

I'm worried about Gus and the coaching going into such a big game as this one.

I mean, if Gus, and the coaches, can put together a great game plan and find a victory against the clots, the Jags will actually be in first place in the division, this late in the season, for the first time in a long long time.

Gus has never had the Jags in first place in the division, at any point in the season, so this is really a big big game for him.

The Jags and the fans really could use a victory like this one.

Quote:Whew, I hadn't seen a post from you in a while. I was worried you might have jumped off the Modis after the nonstop temper tantrums you were throwing on Sunday.

Wait, was I worried, or hoping? Either way, happy polling. I'm sure there's plenty more where this gem comes from.

rolling in what though?
Loosing at Indy isn't in and of itself a 'make or break' situation, but rather the nature of the outcome of that game. If this turns into another 40+ point beat down at the hands of the dolts then it deserves to be bad news for Gus! If on the other hand we manage to keep it relatively close, even if we don't win this one, then I don't think it should represent a deal breaker.

I personally didn't have us winning a game until we played the bucs (and that isn't an automatic). Let's don't kid ourselves; our first four games this season are/were pretty tough. So right now as far as I'm concerned, we're slightly ahead of my expectations; my expectations being for us to finish with at least a 6-10 record.

For us to realistically have a chance to do that I think we'll need to sweep either the tacks or the texicans and at least split with the other. We then need to be able to take down the dirty birds; that would give us 6 wins ('fins, bucs, tacks, texicans(x2), and the dirty birds). Those are the teams I see us having the best chance (and it is only a chance) of beating. The win against the 'fins was an unexpected gift, but that sort of thing is exactly what we needed to reach 6 wins. In fact, to reach a record better than 6-10 will require some really unexpected wins.

A victory is possible against any team, but I think the odds are against us to beat the dolts, bills, jets, ravens, chargers, or ain'ts. I think we'll split with either the tacks or the texicans (or maybe both) but to reach 6 wins we actually need to sweep one of those two teams... unless we get some unexpected wins as we did against the 'fins. We shouldn't get 'blown out' this season by the dolts, though I do expect us to lose both meetings to them. On the other hand, we could very possibly get 'blown out' by the bills, chargers, or ravens, though not as severely as the butt kicking we took at the hands of the pats.

There it is.

You think this is late in the season?  There's a lot of ball left to play.  I hope during that time the offense can start really clicking.

Rolling in idiotic polls. Poll rolling.
My thoughts are that its a pretty big game here...bigger than normal. Division rival who is struggling, a weak division, a QB that is limited and been playing poorly ( not BB...   Ninja  ) and a chance to make a statement and show last weeks [BLEEP] whuppin was put behind them ( pun intended).  Its the 3rd year, its time to show something, and beating the division champs of the last few years on their home turf and shoving that horseshoe up Irsays hind end would certainly rally the team, and fans.

Lose? We get the #becausejaguars schtick again  :nuke:

It's week 4. Some of you love that whole "sky is falling" thing. It's not like you as an armchair coach can do anything about the outcome. It's not a make or break week, losing this game won't kill us yet.
Quote:The Tennessee game, more than perhaps any other one, will be the biggest indictment on Caldwell. If Blake struggles and Marcus shines, I can't even imagine the backlash.

The backlash will pretty much be relegated to those on here who will jump off a building if that happens. Good QBs are going to keep being drafted and coming up. Can't take them all.
Important division game, Yes! Make or break game, not even close. If we win as I would expect, that is 2-2 and whether anyone wants to admit or not, an improvement over recent years past. I would love this game to be the turn around point and for momentum to kick in. The Jags need to find a winning formula and stick with it. I feel like there may still be some experimenting going on.

Don't need to take them all, just need one of them.

We are all hopeful Bortles IS one of them, but we will need some more time to find out.

How much time? That's hard to say, but it is definitely going to be more then 16 starts, and there's a good chance it will be more then twice that number.

There will come a time in the future that we will all know what kind of QB Bortles will turn out to be.

BB5 is sure more fun to watch then the last couple of guys the Jags have trotted out there as their starting QB, that's for sure.

Let's all try to enjoy the ride for now.
