This is a very big deal.
Not much of a surprise if you ask me.
That is pretty big news.  It means we shouldn't have to bring a ton of water with us when we eventually arrive and settle there and we also wouldn't necessarily need to venture to the poles of Mars to get it either.  I won't be shocked when we eventually start finding microbial life on Mars and probably many other spots in our solar system.  We've already found life in every type of environment on Earth (near hydrothermal vents, etc...).  I have no doubt that we'll find it on Mars as well.

Indeed. The implications for Mars missions are pretty cool. With the right tech in place, a lot of resources can be created on site. The upcoming martian move (and book) touches on what this means.
Proof of life on another planet would be the single biggest discovery in human history. We are tantalizingly close to that.
Huge deal! Divert 30% of military and social funding to NASA, stat! Lets get off this god-forsaken rock!

Not even sarcasm.

There's no such thing as water on Mars. That's ridiculous.

This is a very big deal.

Why is that such a "very big deal"?
Was this evidence of flowing water discovered near some empty beer cans?  Because I was...nevermind.  Yay science!

Perhaps we may learn how to inhabit a previously uninhabitable planet. Generations after us are going to need it.

Nah. "Climate change" is just gobbledygook made up by the liberal media to make us all think that we need to spend our hard-earned tax dollars on that stupid environment thing instead of bombing Iran.

*sigh* This post is why we can't have anything nice. There's a Politics thread, you know.

It was a sarcastic quip on my part, not intended to start a political discussion. We have a lengthy argument in there already. Wink
There is a motive behind everything.

Clearly a conspiracy. It's widely known scientists are in cahoots with Hollywood big shots. It just makes too much sense.

Wait. Don't tell me you actually believe this crap. I mean, come on, this is NASA we are talking about. This is obviously some kind of money-grabbing scheme these scientists have come up with. Please don't tell me you fell for it lol.
The moon landing never really happened...do you think they actually made it to Mars?? Sheesh!! Some people will believe anything!! :whistling:
Is water wet on Mars?
