Early in the season but he looks like the clear front runner for the Heisman and could be well on his way to one of the all time best seasons for a college running back. Lets say that continues, he wins the award. He is only two years removed from high school so he is not draft eligible next spring. At that point, what could he possibly gain from going back to school for his junior year? Seems like he could only lose by getting injured like Gurley did at Georgia.

Why not simply withdraw from school, hire agent and spend the next year prepping for the draft?

There's some merit to the idea, but the loss of experience would worry me. It's true that he is an exceptionally gifted runner, but the experience that being on the field gives you is not to be thrown away lightly in my opinion.

Could he go to Canada for a year? I have no idea on the CFL's rules for this sort of thing. He would at least make some money.

ha, that's a horrible idea

I think he could just get an insurance policy just in case any injury hurts his draft stock.
If I were an NFL team and there were a player that did this, there is no way I would pick him.  He's scared that he will get hurt so he can go make some money.  So he has a couple good years on my team and then what?  He starts holding out, getting injured a bit more often to save himself for that contract year.

I want a guy that is competitive.  Fournette doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would do that.

No, get the insurance policy. But even if he would get injured he would be top 10 if he continues to play like he has. Gurley went in the top 10 with an ACL and this guy is much better.

This is about what I was going to say.

I totally agree with this. Others should follow suit and give the NCAA something to think about.  Nick Chubb?
Why does he need to sit out when no one can tackle him?

Good idea. Marcus Lattimore and his career (or lack thereof) stopped by to say hello:

A torn ACL is one thing. A career ending injury is something that an insurance policy won't be able to compensate for.

Yeah I agree. An insurance policy might get him 2 mil, take that vs maybe 20+ mil over his first 5 years.

And lets not forget that some defensive players were already trying to take cheap shots at him.

Because he isn't 3 years removed from high school?

lol, why?
His numbers will dwindle as the season goes on and he's not running against Muschumps porous defense.. This just fluff talk.

LSU fan here.  Yes and no.  We need him every game, absolutely a game changer every time he takes a snap (above avg pass blocker and can make things happen after the play breaks down).  The kid is so special on and off the field, I want him to make it to the NFL with his big pay day.

The world may be watching him for the next 8 to 10 years.
