We expected to lose this game, but was the manner of the defeat and the score damaging ?

Conceding 50 points and being completely unable to stop the opposition has to be a knock to our confidence. As was the inability to fight back through our offense.

But, with a resurgent Luck-led Indy to come, I think the injuries to our cornerbacks and safeties have to be more worrying. We could really have done without the injuries to Evans and Brown, on top of all the others. If we don't get some key players back soon, then the hope inspired by the Miami game could be short-lived.
Yes.

Yes. We were basically a division 2 school vs Alabama.
Absolutely it's important. We were supposed to be past these blowouts and piss poor showings.

It's embarrassing, so yes. The score resembles how a team played, and it painted the picture perfectly. A team that didn't even try and knew they were going to lose days in advance is what it seemed like. They're going all in for the Colts and looked past this completely. No frustration at all and no adjustments were made. This game was a joke and they didn't care to try and win.

Most definitely.
Yep

The main reason the score is important is that it reflects the fact that the Jags couldn't convert 3rd downs and keep Brady off the field.

They had better get that run game working soon, or they won't get anywhere near a .500 record this year.  This defense will suffer like they did last year by returning to the field too quickly drive after drive.

We might have kept it decently competitive with a full roster. But we had a decimated secondary going up against Tom friggin Brady, what did you expect? They will be dropping 50 burgers on teams all year.

Tell yourself that to make yourself feel better
The offensive ineptitude is inexcusable. The defense was obviously gonna have its hands full, but that's no excuse for the offense.

It's the truth. Did you think we would stop Brady with an undrafted corner and a 4th round rookie playing safety? They are pissed off like in 07 and are ready to tear through the league. They will be running up the score on a weekly basis. We are mediocre at best and we know this. If you came in to today's game expecting anything different then you are delusional.
No not when they did not even try to play hard. They played this game like they did not care and it showed

Ok.

We built a mediocre team after this multi-year rebuild.

I see a major problem with that.
I expected more than 10 points...or for the apologist "17" points

The worst part is the only player from the 2013 draft on the field was McCray. Joeckel, Cyprien, Gratz, Robinson all injured.

And then Lee played sparingly. Linder was dinged up.

And of course the first rounder this year is out.

I know everyone says injuries are no excuse but come on... this is not the team we expected to field in the 3rd week - not to mention the secondary injuries today.. Brady exploited that as he should. I wish we were more competitive but a loss is a loss.. just shows as 1 in the loss colum whether it is by 3 or 30...

Our overall roster looks much better with Marks, Fowler, and Julius, and even Denard in the lineup.
The score represents how well or bad we played. So yes the score matters.
To be fair, this Patriots team is pretty much fully healthy and we were missing extremely key players.

Still an embarrassing showing. We have a chance to make noise again next week though.
